British actress Mia Goth, wife of Shia LaBeouf, has reportedly been accused by a background actor of purposefully kicking him in the head while doing a scene in her upcoming film, MaXXXine. The lawsuit alleges that Goth went beyond what the script had asked from the scene and later taunted the man in a bathroom about the supposed assault.
Known for her work in the X-trilogy, Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf were married in 2016 and the incident occurred during filming of the third and last installment in the series. The actress, the director Ti West and A24 are all listed as the primary accused in the lawsuit filed by the background actor.
Background actor accuses Mia Goth of battery and alleges he was wrongfully terminated from the set of MaXXXine
MaXXXine is slated to be the last movie in the X trilogy, with Mia returning as the titular character Maxine in the series. The lineup for the upcoming production also features some big names including singers Halsey and Moses Sumney. Actors such as Giancarlo Esposito and Crown actress Elizabeth Debicki have also been cast in the movie.
However, even before a release date was announced, the project was plunged into controversy after a background actor was recently reported to have filed a lawsuit claiming battery and wrongful termination against the production. As per the court documents, the actor has accused Mia Goth of kicking him in the head during a scene on purpose.
The suit claims Shia LaBeouf's wife was only supposed to step over the body of a background actor who had been playing dead for hours for the scene. However, during filming she allegedly "intentionally kicked" him instead of doing what the script called for, even after she was warned to not do such a thing after she allegedly almost stepped on him in a previous take.
The blow, as per the background actor's lawsuit, left him with serious pain in his neck which caused stiffness. A doctor apparently diagnosed him with having had a concussion due to the incident, states the document. Furthermore, it appears that no medical aid was provided to him on set, and Mia Goth allegedly confronted him in the bathroom after the supposed battery and taunted him, mocking him to do something about what had transpired.
That's not all - the lawsuit also claims that he was fired from MaXXXine's production soon after the incident with Mia Goth, therefore accusing A24 and the producers of wrongful termination as well as the actress of battery.
