A new conspiracy theory surrounding Sean "Diddy" Combs links the rapper to the death of actress Anne Heche, who died on August 11, 2022, after a car crash. This new theory emerged following the rapper's arrest on s*x trafficking and prostitution charges on September 16.
Note - This article is based on speculation and there has been no proof linking Diddy or Ellen DeGeneres to Anne Heche's death.
Anne Heche and Ellen DeGeneres started dating in 1997 and reportedly broke up amicably in 2000. The conspiracy theory, published in Evie Magazine on September 27, probed into Diddy's friendly relationship with television host Ellen DeGeneres and its alleged connection to Heche's death.
The theory alleged that DeGeneres did not want the truth about her relationship with Heche to see the light of day. It postulated that the rapper had something to do with the actress's car crash at DeGeneres' behest to allegedly stop her from spilling secrets about their past relationship.
Heche and DeGeneres' relationship courted controversy at the time of their dating due to them being an openly gay couple, which resulted in Heche being reportedly blacklisted from the industry for 10 years. Heche has close to 50 film roles to her credit, with over six movies released posthumously.
According to IMDb, Anne Heche's last film, Chasing Nightmares, has yet to be released. The thriller movie, reportedly in post-production, also stars Graham McTavish and Michelle Randolph and is directed by Chris McGowan. IMDb described the movie's plot as:
"A college student risks her and her friends' lives to track down the meaning behind the nightmares she has about a girl and a delusional masked man."
Exploring Anne Heche’s final roles
Anne Heche had been involved in multiple projects at the time of her death, including at least seven movies and one television series. One of Heche’s final projects was the Lifetime movie Girl in Room 13.
The movie premiered on September 17, 2022, and was inspired by real-life events. It follows the story of Janie (Heche) trying to save her daughter Gracie, a former drug addict, from being sold into human trafficking.
In a 2022 interview with TVInsider, Elisabeth Röhm, the movie's director, lauded the late actress for her commitment to the role, saying:
“She [Heche] was in it with every ounce of her soul. She was really committed. Every single day, she would come to set and she would say, “We will not stand for abuse. And we stand with Lifetime in that commitment to stopping violence against women.”
Heche also worked in the Tubi rom-com flick Frankie Meets Jack, playing Katrina, a mentor figure to Frankie in the movie. Her other posthumous releases include What Remains (a murder mystery), Supercell (an action movie), and Wildfire (inspired by the eponymous hit song).
Heche also starred in the HBO series The Idol but her scenes were reportedly cut when the show aired.
What did Anne Heche say about dating Ellen DeGeneres?
A year before her death, Anne Heche hinted that Ellen DeGeneres tried to control how she dressed when they were dating. In a TikTok video posted in April 2021, Heche reviewed her fashion on the red carpet over the years, pausing on the 1998 Golden Globes where she and DeGeneres wore matching outfits. The actress claimed that she looked like a hippie, adding it was because "Ellen didn’t want me to dress sexy.”
In a June 2021 Better Together podcast episode, Anne Heche claimed that she and DeGeneres broke up because of their differing goals in life. She said that while her goal was to find love, her ex-partner's goal was to make money.
"I hope you [DeGeneres] like your money because that's why I broke up with you. Do you like sitting on your piles of cash? Because guess what, it gets you exactly where you are. And by the way, baby, it's what you wanted then and I hope you're liking it now. I broke up with her because her goal was to have a lot of money. Mine was to find love, and hers was, 'I want $60 billion'," she said.
Following Anne Heche's accident, a video of the actress allegedly trying to sit up from the stretcher went viral on social media. At the time, many pointed out the inconsistencies in the video, claiming Heche was covered head to toe with a blanket like she was dead, only to sit up just moments after. Others alleged that the actress did not look heavily injured.
In August 2022, Anne Heche got into an accident after her car crashed into a house. The crash resulted in a fire that was put out nearly an hour later. Heche, aged 53, was in a coma for a week before she died on August 11. She remained on life support till August 14 as an organ donor. Her death was ruled an accident.
Anne Heche was cremated at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on August 18, 2022. She was later interred at the Cathedral Mausoleum.
