On May 17, 2023, 34-year-old Anthony Michael Corrado of Naples was arrested by Collier County Sheriff's Office for reportedly murdering an elderly woman and severely beating an elderly man in Golden Gate Estates. Collier County Sheriff's Office reported that Anthony's victims were his own grandparents.
The deceased female victim had an active order for protection against Anthony, who was discharged from prison last year for having a prior history of violence.
Collier County Sheriff's Office reported that Anthony Michael Corrado was booked into the Collier County jail and is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated battery on a person over the age of 65.
Anthony Michael Corrado called a housekeeper to help clean the crime scene
After allegedly clobbering his grandmother, at about 2:30 pm, Anthony Michael Corrado contacted a housekeeper to assist him in cleaning the Golden Gate Estates residence on 16th Street Northeast.
The Naples Daily News reported that the arrest affidavit stated that the suspect called the housekeeper to help him with a "real mess."
Upon her arrival, Anthony, who was blood-stained, guided her through the blood-spattered residence to a bedroom where his grandmother's mutilated body lay wrapped in a tarp.
The housekeeper mentioned that the deceased victim had a bag wrapped around her head, and when she attempted to take it off, Anthony reportedly prevented her as it would smear blood everywhere.
According to the housekeeper, Anthony Michael Corrado allegedly asked her to carry the body out of the residence. When she asked him to call 911, Anthony declined, stating he did not want to go back to prison.
The housekeeper left the scene after she made an excuse that she needed cleaning supplies from her car and located a Collier County Sheriff's deputy in his patrol vehicle a short distance away.
The New York Post reported that during that time, Anthony allegedly physically assaulted his grandfather. Upon arrival, deputies located Micheal wearing blood-spattered clothes in the driveway next to a car with the trunk open.
According to a report by Miami Herald, deputies found the 82-year-old female victim dead in the bedroom, with injuries to the head from blunt force trauma. They also found the second victim, a 74-year-old male, alive and wrapped in a blanket with injuries consistent with blunt head trauma. Anthony's grandfather was airlifted to the Gulf Coast Medical Center's trauma unit in Fort Myers.
Deputies also located a hammer with blood on a kitchen countertop and blood on the walls and floors inside the residence.
Anthony Michael Corrado did not appear at his bond hearing
Miami Herald reported that property records state the residence belongs to married couple Anthony and Mary Schiavone, who were Anthony's victims and grandparents.
Corrado's second cousin Mike Schiavone from Pittsburgh told NBC-2:
"Anthony and Mary were devoted grandparents and they helped their grandkids a ton. The horror of the entire situation was overwhelming."
In a statement by Collier County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said:
"This individual is in our custody thanks to the swift response by deputies and the quick-thinking reporter who was able to get herself out of the residence and alert law enforcement."
Miami Herald reported that Anthony Michael Corrado did not appear at his bond hearing, where the judge set no bond based on probable cause and ordered him to have no contact with his grandfather.
