Casey Kidd allegedly ran a dog fighting ring and had used at least one dog as bait for dog fighting
Law enforcement officials from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department recently made a horrific discovery in a yard. They found several dogs chained and many others who had starved to death. According to Sheriff Chis Swanson, the dogs were allegedly used in a dog fighting ring. He said:
“The dogs had scars and were in multiple stages of injuries (leads us to suspect) they were involved in dog fighting.”
Two of the alive dogs were chipped, and authorities found their owners too. The two dogs were reportedly away for around three weeks. The sheriff further said he believed that Genesee County resident Casey Kidd used some stolen dogs as bait to kidnap other dogs.
Swanson has described Casey as someone with a “dangerous criminal history.” He had also requested the public to reach out to them in case they have any information regarding the 29-year-old man. He stated:
“He’s got a dangerous criminal history. So, we’re not asking anybody to put themselves at risk. I want to point that out. There’s crime-stopper information in this briefing. There is 911 you can call, but we want to tell you the story.”
Swanson added:
“That’s why we need to talk to Casey Kidd, who’s got a valid felony warrant for his arrest. You know how what we say about dogs and violence is true, and this is just yet another case.”
Swanson confirmed that the warrant is for one count of abandoning animals. If convicted, Kidd can be sentenced to four to ten years of imprisonment. It was also revealed that he had been arrested several times for invasions, assaults, and drug-related charges. The investigation reportedly began after an individual reported the dogs being chained up in the backyard of a house.
Although law enforcement officials have requested the public to provide them with any information regarding Kidd, they have also asked them to not apprehend him. Since this is an extreme case of animal cruelty, authorities are trying to locate Kidd as soon as possible.
