Well-known reality star Karen Huger's DUI case has witnessed new developments. As per the latest update, the television personality has been found guilty of DUI and four other charges linked to the incident on December 18, 2024, and the police body cam footage featuring Huger's interrogation has also been released now.
The footage shows an officer questioning Huger about everything that happened when she was charged with DUI in March this year, where she addressed herself as third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson's concubine while speaking to the officer at the police station.
Notably, a concubine refers to a woman who cohabits with a man but the duo is not legally married. According to Dictionary.com, it also refers to a secondary wife.
In another footage recorded on the night of the incident, Karen Huger was spotted in the passenger seat of the police car and reportedly referred to her character from Real Housewives of Potomac, Grande Dame, as per Us Weekly.
The DUI case happened in Maryland, following the guilty verdict, Karen's attorney A. Scott Bolden said they were disappointed with the verdict, adding that they still respected the court's decision and praised them for taking the time to listen to their case. As per People magazine, Bolden also stated:
"We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger's right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time."
Karen Huger had a long conversation with the police officer in the body cam footage
The Spring Grove, Virginia native's interrogation video with a police officer on the night of the incident has been trending everywhere. According to People magazine, the video shows an officer questioning Huger on if she recalls anything about the accident and Karen replies with a "Yes."
However, Karen Huger does not reveal much about the incident until her husband Ray is heard saying:
"Somebody ran you off the road."
While Karen agrees with Ray, she tells the officer that she does not remember anything about the vehicle. Ray also searches for Karen's documents while the latter is questioned and Karen tells the officer to speak to Ray while being asked how much she was drunk before the accident happened.
Furthermore, the body cam footage included a few shots of Karen's Maserati, which suffered certain damages, including a broken headlight. Karen Huger reportedly refused to undergo a sobriety and breathalyzer test in the video.
Notably, Huger's alleged involvement in a vehicle collision case was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Montgomery Police Department on the same day she was charged. Huger also spoke to TMZ a day after the incident, saying that she went to meet her girlfriend and they had a very emotional conversation due to which she was crying on her way home. Karen said that she witnessed a car heading towards her and continued:
"I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider, and then a tree. I'm hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!"
