The Eye of Ra meme is currently trending on TikTok and other social media platforms. It consists of a photoshopped image of TikToker Rashad Bowens, with his recognizable red dreadlocks and a single cyclopean eye. The term became trendy on TikTok at the beginning of January 2025.

Bowens is also referred to as a "Hood Cryptid." Jeremiah Springfield, a TikTok and Instagram user, started the meme. Springfield modified a well-liked video of Bowens, giving him a flame-like haircut and one eye.

Ever since he made the initial video, the Eye of Ra has become the most popular thing on all platforms. The meme refers to the Egyptian Eye of Ra emblem. It is typically shown as a sun disk and serves as a manifestation of the power of the sun god Ra. It is regarded as a strong force capable of both destroying and creating life.

Rashad Bowens is a budding boxer who enjoys posting reaction videos on Instagram and TikTok. He is also well-known for his response stitches and striking red hair, which occasionally stands straight up. Now, after Jeremiah Springfield made the initial edit using Bowens' face, he became the face of the Eye of Ra.

Bowens, whose account names are @lilbotheme and @bothemess, shared a now-iconic video in December 2022, which inspired this trend. In the video, he could be seen dueting a cookery film with a man salting a cucumber.

Wearing red dreads, Bowens then interrupts him and yells, "Ay, yo, chill the f*ck out, yo!" and tells him to relax. He looks somewhat strange due to a brief edit that shows one eye in the center of his forehead and one dread protruding straight up. As per Dexerto's January 7, 2025 report, the video received 66,500 likes and more than 597,700 views on TikTok.

Jeremiah Springfield then uploaded a modified version of the clip on November 26, 2024, which included one red dread of Bowens extending straight up and the cyclopean eye. The meme swiftly gained popularity after getting over 1.8 million plays and 292,000 likes.

Soon after, @zketchum, a TikTok user, commented on the video with the words Eye of Ra, presumably referencing the legendary Curse of Ra. More than 21,000 people liked the message, solidifying the name.

The meme then spread like wildfire. On December 22, 2024, Instagram user @skaxta shared a version with a single frame of Bowens as the cyclops with fiery CapCut effects. It received over 451,100 likes. Additionally, by January 2025, the Eye of Ra meme started blending with other viral trends, such as I Bought a Property in Egypt and Chopped Chin.

One of the most well-known examples that combines all three trends was uploaded by TikToker bob911_ on January 4 and has garnered over 2.4 million views. The Eye of Ra meme is still popular on TikTok, Instagram, and X, with numerous images receiving millions of views, despite some viewers being confused by its viral success.

On the other hand, the Eye of Ra represents the retaliation of Ra's daughter against humanity. Ra is the Egyptian god of the sun. The Curse of Ra meme, which also went viral on the internet last year, is the source of memes about the Egyptian deity.

On the other hand, this isn't the only trend on TikTok that has gone viral recently. It also gave birth to trends like Loctober, Dior Bags, diapers mom, etc.
