On December 30, 2024, a video clip obtained by Daily Mail posted by @paulamatanovich on X shows Hilaria cooking a Spanish dish alongside a friend named David, and what raised eyebrows the netizens when she appeared to struggle with recalling the English word for "onion."

As a result, on X, the moment has reignited discussions about her cultural identity and authenticity, with social media users chiming in with both criticism and humor.

"What a fraud," one commented.

Moreover, many users on X alleged that Hilaria Baldwin has been faking her accent for years. Some Latina users also questioned its authenticity.

"Omg how embarrassing.! What is she thinking?...why!?" one more on X.
"She wishes she was a super model named Hillaria from Buenos Aries, but she's not. She is Hilarious from the suburbs of Boston," a third netizen commented.

Hilaria Baldwin appears to struggle with English while cooking in a viral video

In the same video, Hilaria Baldwin can be seen cooking a traditional Spanish dish alongside her friend David while her husband, Alec Baldwin, records the scene. The footage shows Hilaria seemingly struggling to recall the English word "onion," which David helps her remember.

The video began with Hilaria wearing a white and red checkered shirt, her hair tied in a loose bun, and David dressed in a cozy loungewear set. Both were standing in the kitchen, with a stove visible in the clip where multiple dishes were being cooked.

As Hilaria explained the dish she was preparing, she noted that her husband dislikes onions, referring to them in Spanish as "cebollas." To accommodate Alec's preferences, she said she grinds the onion with alcohol for the dish.

"You have not to cut them too tiny because they are not going to have the right texture, and then I, my husband hates "onions (helped by David)" cebollas, thanks. So he hates that so I yeah I grind cebollas in alcohol together," Hilaria said.

This is not the first time Hilaria Baldwin has been seen online forgetting the English names of everyday items. In 2015, during a six-minute segment on the Today show, she appeared to forget the English word for "cucumber" while listing ingredients.

According to People, Hilaria Baldwin was born in Boston to David Thomas and Dr. Kathryn Hayward. During her childhood and teenage years, she spent significant time in Spain and Massachusetts, which may explain her Spanish accent.

In a since-deleted Instagram video from December 2020, Hilaria stated that she was raised bilingual in a household that embraced American and Spanish cultures.
