Steve Winwood graced the Coronation Concert stage on Sunday, May 7, 2023, to perform for the newly-crowned King Charles. Winwood performed Higher Love with the virtual Commonwealth Choir and seemed to impress the royals, as King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family were seen nodding their heads along to the music.

For the uninitiated, legendary English rock musician Steve Winwood has been a significant name in the music industry for a long time. He has been a member of numerous popular bands such as Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and Go.

Go: In 1976, Winwood formed the short-lived jazz-fusion band Go with other well-known musicians. The band released one self-titled album before disbanding later that same year.

Winwood then launched a solo career in 1977. His self-titled debut album was released on Island Records in June of the same year.

Over the span of his illustrious career, he has won a total of 2 Grammy Awards and has been nominated for numerous other prestigious awards, key among them being the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist, which he was nominated for twice in 1988 and 1989.

In 2011, he was awarded the Ivor Novello Award by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors for Outstanding Song Collection. And in 2004, he was also honored with a lifetime achievement award at that year's Jammy Awards.

Despite his lack of recent performances, Winwood remains a beloved figure in the world of rock music. He grew up in Handsworth, which is roughly 120 miles north of Windsor Castle, where the Coronation Concert took place.

Legendary British musician Steve Winwood has a surprising connection to the British royals, thanks to his daughter's marriage. Mary-Clare Elliot, Steve Winwood's daughter, is married to Ben Elliot, a fundraiser and former co-chairman of the Conservative Party.

Ben Elliot is also the nephew of Queen Camilla, as she and his mother, Annabel Shand, are sisters. Charles and Camilla attended the Gloucestershire nuptials of Mary-Clare and Ben in 2011.

The connection was further cemented when Mary-Clare and Ben's four-year-old son, Arthur Elliot, served as a page of honor at the recent coronation. Cameras captured Arthur in a black outfit on the far right of the stage, where his grandfather, King Charles, and Queen Camilla were watching the festivities.

Steve Winwood's performance at the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle marks his second on-stage performance in four years.

Besides Winwood, the concert featured other top performers such as Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who stole the show with his amazing headlining act.
