David ‘Ace’ Cannon has left the Ace and TJ Show, with the announcement made on the show's Instagram on September 20. Bryan “Riggins” Weber will replace him. The reason for Cannon's departure wasn't shared, leaving fans shocked.
In a social media post, the Ace and TJ Show announced:
“The new TJ & Riggins Show begins Monday, September 23. Expect much of the same content and products with some new additions to be announced soon. Ace is no longer associated with the show.”
Adam Goodman, Cannon, and Ritchie “TJ” Beams’ joint manager revealed in a statement to The Charlotte Observer that the Ace and TJ Show had an "agreement,” which was “basically a non-disclosure agreement,” with Cannon, making it impossible to share the reason behind Cannon’s sudden departure. Goodman also said, “We want to try at least to relay that… he is still our friend.”
The manager also acknowledged that the news came as a surprise to many and said:
“We’re doing the exact same show [starting] Monday. It’s just called something different- and Ace isn’t there.”
Followers have since taken to the internet to express sadness over the latest announcement and also took to making their own assumptions about Cannon’s leave. One Reddit user opined that an alleged fallout with his wife led to him leaving the Ace and TJ Show.
“Ace’s wife’s TikTok was @amandaandace and now it’s @amandaanddax FWIW… Dax is their 1 year old," a Reddit user said.
Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“Wow this is wild. Like so many others we listened to them every morning when we went to school for yeeeeaars. Can’t wait for the Reddit sleuths to find out what happened,” one Reddit user said.
“The way this is worded so coldly and matter of factly is very odd for someone so loved by the community. Initial reaction leads me to believe that Ace really really eff'd up somehow,” another platform user said.
“If it’s something that impacting his career AND personal life; I’m guessing he’s in some sort of legal trouble. If that’s the case, it will come out eventually. It sounds like his inner circle is aware and distancing themselves from him,” another netizen commented.
The Ace and TJ Show initially started off on Kiss 95.1 but proceeded to appear on K104.7, based out of Charlotte. Internet users continued to share their predictions online with others saying:
“OMG this is crazy. I haven’t listened in a couple years but I am so shocked,” one netizen said.
“I recall this happening years ago with The Rise Guys on 93.3 and Skip. I think he committed a DUI and was gone and never mentioned again the next week,” another Reddit user said.
“I quit listening a while back because I can’t stand TJ anymore. Genuinely curious,” a netizen said online.
