On Wednesday, January 1, at least 11 people were injured in a mass shooting near the Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York City. As per a report by AMNY News, the shooting took place at 91-12 144tg Place in Jamaica at around 11.45 pm within the 103rd Precinct.

The Amazura nightclub is a high-end place in Queens and is known for regularly featuring DJs and live performances. The club was reportedly hosting a private party on Wednesday to pay tribute to a known gang member who had died last year.

Around 80 people were gathered outside the Amazura nightclub when the shooting incident took place. The New York Police Department (NYPD) described the situation as active and deployed Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams to catch the perpetrators and protect civilians.

Nearby streets were immediately closed off, but authorities haven't yet identified a suspect or determined the motive behind the killings. Paramedics from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) were called to transport the injured to local hospitals. Meanwhile, the police started conducting door-to-door searches and video surveillance to investigate further.

The mass shooting incident coincided with a deadly attack in New Orleans where a US Army veteran rammed his pickup truck into a crowd, killing at least 15 and critically injuring several others.

In another incident, a Tesla Cybertruck parked outside Donald Trump's Las Vegas hotel exploded, killing a person who was standing close to the door.

In an early morning press conference following the shooting near the Amazura nightclub, NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera provided the latest update on the investigations. He revealed that four gunmen fired over 30 times, injuring six females and four males. However, all of them are expected to make a full recovery.

“Four males opened fire over 30 times in the direction of the group standing outside the event space, striking multiple victims. The males fled on foot westbound on 91st street towards 143 Place, where they entered a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates,” he said.

Talking about the victims, Chief Rivera said:

“Police officers responding to the multiple 911 calls found a total of 10 victims– six females, four males–which were taken to area hospitals. All of the victims are expected to recover.”

He also alluded to the shooting being a gang-related attack. In an interview with amNewYork Metro (reported by AMNY News), he explained that the attack's relation with gang wars is "one of the avenues that we’re pursuing."

However, none of the suspects have been apprehended so far, and all are at large. Chief Rivera implored the public to inform the police if they had any helpful news.

“The public has been very instrumental in the recent weeks to help us capture dangerous individuals like these poor men, we ask the public, if you see something, say something call our Crime Stoppers tip line,” Chief Rivera said.
