What happened between Corey Scherer and Elton Castee? Overnight Channel Drama explored as former addresses allegations

YouTuber Elton Castee from OVERNIGHT posted a video on July 17 about his former associate Corey Scherer who quit the channel seven months ago. Elton, 34, addressed several issues regarding Corey, claiming the latter has spread some false information about him.

Elton Castee asked his viewers not to trust anything they might have heard about him from Corey and began his hour-long video. He added whatever he was about to say in the video could be factually proven in a court of law. Elton reasoned he was speaking about Corey publicly because he was scared of the latter spreading lies about him. In the description, he explained that he made the video with "the pure intention" of giving fans of OVERNIGHT, TFIL, and Haunted Homies, an explanation about Corey's departure.

"This video was filmed with the pure intention of giving viewers and supporters of OVERNIGHT, TFIL & Haunted Homies a long overdue explanation of his abrupt departure from the channel and all of the events leading up to him quitting."

The YouTuber added that the video only intended to address the "Elton-Corey relationship." He stated that he didn't want fans harassing, instigating, or spreading hate towards "anyone whatsoever."

Following the claims made in the video, Corey took to TikTok and provided his response, addressing each of the points Elton made about him.

Elton Castee said he witnessed Corey spreading lies about other people when the latter left the previous YouTube channel he used to work for. He had believed Corey's words back then since he was a friend. However, in the last few months, Elton had reached out to those people and they denied Corey's claims and accused him of fabricating lies.

As Elton Castee began to address the alleged lies said about him, he said he had been accused of not paying people. Dispelling the rumor, he clarified he always tries to pay his crew before worrying about his own earnings. Elton Castee claimed he planned their trips for the haunted locations, and bore the expenses of the entire team to be there.

The 34-year-old YouTuber claimed that he does everything on his own, most of the time. This included finding the locations and paranormal experts, assembling equipment for the trips to filming, hotel booking, transport, and meals. Elton Castee said viewers sent him more suggestions about haunted locations than Corey ever did.

Elton accused Corey of backing out from one of their already planned filming set. He added that Corey kept refusing to appear in certain videos throughout 2023, reasoning that he was feeling tired or sick.

The YouTuber brought out receipts and said out of 18 ghost-hunting nights they had planned last year, Corey quit early on two nights and fully canceled on 3 other nights. However, Elton Castee paid him his promised $1500 per night payment for the entire set.

Elton Castee also said Corey Scherer pretended to be sick on one of their charity trips and avoided filming with the rest of the team. Elton added the viewers might have donated more than Corey donated in that charity event.

Elton claimed Corey once asked for changes to be made to a video after it had already been posted on YouTube. For 2024, Elton said he only planned for 26 nights of filming over the first few months and was looking to book flights accordingly.

However, in January, while Elton was in New Zealand, Corey messaged him saying he would like to resign from OVERNIGHT to focus more on himself this year. Elton criticized how Corey informed him of the same over a text message instead of having a conversation in person, despite being friends with him for nearly 7 years. Since then, he said Corey had never messaged him.

Corey addressed Elton's claims in his response saying he was shocked waking up to the video. He claimed to have stood up for Elton for the past seven years. He implied Elton had a bad temper, revealing several people who went on the ghost-hunting trips with them allegedly wanted to quit but Corey convinced them to stay. He further accused Elton of being mad at him for wanting to move on from OVERNIGHT and starting his own channel.

Corey admitted to wanting to quit OVERNIGHT several times over the years reasoning he had been depressed and unhappy. He said Elton and him have not spoken to each other since he quit the channel and criticized the latter for posting the video about him instead of reaching out to him in person.

Next, Corey Scherer addressed Elton accusing him of faking his sickness during their charity event. He said they had to sleep under a shed in 40 degrees claiming Elton did not want to get a heater for them, reasoning it would make too much noise. He added:

"So after three or four days of living in darkness, I got sick."

Elton later tweeted saying everything said in Corey's videos was lies. He accused Corey of manipulating viewers by telling them his depression kept him trapped, to which the latter replied.

In his latest Instagram video further responding to Corey, Elton Castee broke down while addressing the allegations brought against him. He expressed he was deeply hurt by Corey's behavior after he had considered him his best friend for so many years.
