A horrific shooting took place at an automotive manufacturing plant in Ohio on Thursday, May 18, 2023. The shooting left one person dead, while two others, including the alleged shooter, sustained injuries. The shooter, whose identity is yet to be released, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he is currently in a critical but stable state.

The deceased victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jeffery James Allen III. Authorities have further confirmed that both the suspect and the victims are employees of the Ohio plant. They further revealed that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Jeffery and a female who was also an employee at DMAX.
Police are currently investigating the shootout that took place at the Ohio manufacturing plant. DMAX Ltd. is reportedly a subsidiary of General Motors, and it also employs around 800 people. According to authorities, they have yet to file charges against the suspect.
The shooting at the Ohio facility was reportedly targeted at the victim
The unidentified suspect reportedly targeted Jeffery James Allen III at the DMAX Ltd. in Moraine, Ohio. The Thursday night shooting left the 28-year-old dead at the scene. The other victims who sustained injuries include the shooter, who shot himself, and another individual who sustained a gunshot wound.
The other two were rushed to the hospital and are in stable condition. Authorities received several 911 calls shortly before 9 pm local time regarding gunshots at the Ohio plant. The suspect allegedly entered the facility and opened fire. According to MPD Sgt. Andrew Parish, when authorities arrived, they found the shooter outside the main entrance with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Responding officers also recovered several rounds of ammunition. After entering the Ohio auto plant, they discovered Jeffery, who was dead by then, and the other injured victim. As has been mentioned before, the shooting began after a verbal dispute escalated, and the suspect pulled out a handgun and opened fire. The injured victim was believed not to have been involved in the scuffle.
Authorities have already executed a search warrant for the suspect’s house, whose identity is yet to be revealed. They are also investigating the security footage from the incident.
DMAX released a statement addressing the shooting
DMAX released a statement addressing its employees. It read,
“There has been a plant emergency at the DMAX Moraine Facility. All Moraine production operations have been suspended at this time until further notice. Additional information will be shared as soon as available.”
Pat Morrissey, GM’s vice president of corporate communications, said,
“We are aware of an incident at the DMAX Moraine manufacturing facility, and are working with local authorities.”
Authorities revealed that the auto plant has been shut down as long as the investigation continues. Several law enforcement agencies from Kettering, Moraine, Miami Township, West Carrollton, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the shooting site.
