Aspiring Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya passed away after a giant wave drowned her while she was performing cliffside yoga during her vacation in Thailand on Friday, November 29, 2024.

As reported by Khaosad English, footage of Belyatskaya's final moments captured a giant sea wave swallowing her to death in the middle of her meditation session. The footage also captured the actress struggling to stay afloat but eventually drowning in the sea. The incident took place on the island of Koh Samui, adjacent to the Gulfside of Thailand.

As per the aforementioned outlet, rescue operations arrived within 15 minutes but were unable to save Kamilla Beyatskaya due to the waves reaching over nine feet. Another bystander reportedly jumped in to save the actress but did not succeed. However, his fate is yet to be known. Belyatskaya's body was reportedly found days later at two-thirds of a mile away from where she had drowned.

Kamilla Belyatskaya was reportedly vacationing in Thailand with her boyfriend at that time. The actress had referred to Thailand as her "home" and the "best place on earth" on social media previously. Samui City Municipality has reportedly closed access to the rocky area below the viewpoint, per Khaosad English.

Following the tragic death of Kamilla Belyatskaya, the head of the Samui Rescue Centre, Chaiyaporn Subprasert claimed that there were "warning systems" present at dangerous areas on the beach to warn tourists.

“During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially in high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags indicate no swimming. While the incident location isn’t a swimming area but rather a viewpoint for scenery, the victim may have been caught off guard by the unexpected wave surge," Subpraset told Khaosad English.

In the footage, Belyatskaya can be spotted meditating on her pink yoga mat on a rock surrounded by the sea. At that time, a massive wave swept her away as the actress struggled to swim ashore. An eyewitness of the incident jumped into the sea to save her but was unsuccessful. Reports about the bystander's condition remain unknown.

Rescue operations arrived at the scene 15 minutes later. However, as reported by Khaosad English, the search was dismissed soon due to unsafe wave conditions. According to CCTV footage obtained by the outlet, Kamilla Belyatskaya arrived at the Lad Ko viewpoint that day in a red car before venturing into the rocky area for her meditation session. Following the accident, the 24-year-old actress's pink yoga mat was visible on the shore.

According to local media, an eyewitness of the incident said:

"At some point, I turned away, and a second later, I saw that the girl had been carried away by a wave. Her boyfriend, seated higher on the rocks, called for help."

Kamilla Belyatskaya hailed from Novosibirsk, Russia, and was 24 at the time of her death. It is reported that she was an aspiring actress who was on vacation in Thailand with her boyfriend. Her body was discovered a few days after the incident near a hotel close by, two-thirds of a mile from where she drowned, reported Khaosad English.
