What happened to Miho Nakayama? Police analyze circumstances surrounding Love Letter star's death

Japanese singer and actress Miho Nakayama passed away at 54 on Friday, December 6, 2024. Miho, who was known for her role in Love Letter, was found dead at her residence in Tokyo, as reported by The Japan Times. While the cause of death is yet to be determined, it was reported that she was found in the bathtub.

Miho Nakayama's death was further confirmed by Big Apple, the agency that represented her. As per reports by the Fuji News Network (FNN), authorities couldn't find visible signs of trauma on Miho. In the translated version of the statement dated December 6, they wrote:

"Today, December 6th, our talent Miho Nakayama was found dead at her home. We are deeply sorry to have to suddenly announce this to all the people involved who have always looked after her and to all the fans who have supported her, but this incident was so sudden that we, too, are shocked and saddened."

The statement added that investigating officers were looking into the actress' death to find the actual details regarding it. It also urged media outlets to give privacy to the grieving family of the late artist. Given the surroundings, authorities suspected that the actress died of heat shock.

Cops, on the other hand, suggested that it could be an accident or an outcome of illness as well. Local media also reported that she could have died after drowning in the bathtub. An acquaintance found the late actress in the bathtub in an unconscious state, after she failed to appear at work.

Miho Nakayama has acted in several movies like Who Do I Choose?, Butterfly Sleep, 108: Revenge and Adventure of Goro Kaiba, and Last Letters.

Born in March 1970, in Saku, Miho Nakayama had become a well-known actress and singer in Japan. She was the older sister of Shinobu Nakayama, who is also a singer and actress. Her debut happened with her acting in a drama titled Maido Osawagase Shimasu, back in 1985. She reportedly began gaining fame and recognition for her performance in the drama.

She has further released about 22 studio albums in her lifetime, with the debut one being titled C, which was released in 1985. Her album titled Neuf Neuf was dropped a few years back in 2019.

The actress got married to musician Hitonari Tsuji in 2002 and moved to Paris. The former couple had dated for about eight months before getting married. They welcomed a son a year later. The marriage, however, lasted till 2014, when Tsuji and Nakayama filed for a divorce. When the actress moved back to Tokyo, Tsuji got the custody of their son.

On Friday, December 6, Miho was scheduled to perform at a Christmas event in Osaka. She, however, didn't appear and it was announced that her show was canceled due to health concerns.

By then, the news about her death hadn't arrived yet. That was when a team member visited her and found her unconscious in the bathtub.

Fans have flooded social media platforms paying tributes to their beloved actress.
