Actor Justin Baldoni’s wedding apology to his wife, Emily Baldoni, has gained renewed attention following Blake Lively’s lawsuit alleging a toxic workplace environment on the set of It Ends With Us. The allegations include s*xual misconduct claims against Baldoni and another producer, which he vehemently denies.
At their wedding in July 2013, Baldoni offered a poignant apology to his wife. As reported by Page Six, Baldoni said to the Swedish actor:
“I’m sorry for all my faults, my shortcomings, for my insecurities and my ego and for everything that I’ve ever done or said that’s hurt you. And everything I’ve ever brought to this relationship that hasn’t been pure.”
Justin Baldoni vowed to "cherish" and "respect" Emily. She reciprocated with a heartfelt promise, expressing gratitude for Baldoni’s dedication to amplifying unheard voices. Their ceremony ended with a high-five, and Emily moved to tears, declared, "Where there is love, nothing is too much trouble."
The couple tied the knot in a Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed ceremony in Corona, California.
Allegations against Justin Baldoni and support for Lively
The lawsuit, filed by Blake Lively and detailed in a New York Times article, accuses Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios of orchestrating a campaign to harm Lively’s reputation after she raised concerns about "repeated s*xual harassment and other disturbing behavior" by Baldoni and another producer. In her legal statement, Lively said:
"I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics... and helps protect others who may be targeted."
Author Colleen Hoover, who wrote the bestselling novel It Ends With Us, also voiced her support for Lively, describing her as "honest, kind, supportive, and patient" in an Instagram post.
Bryan Freedman, representing Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, called the claims "completely false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious," asserting that any crisis management measures were standard internal planning.
Emily Baldoni, who shares two children with Justin, made a cameo in It Ends With Us, portraying a medic conducting a scan on Lively’s character Lily. The scene marked a turning point in the film, as Lily decides to leave an abusive relationship with Baldoni’s character, Ryle Kincaid. Their children, Maiya and Maxwell, also appeared in the movie’s concluding scene, symbolizing hope and resilience.
The romantic drama, directed by Justin Baldoni, explores themes of love and domestic violence. It stars Lively as Lily Bloom and Brandon Sklenar as her first love, Atlas Corrigan. Rumors of tension between Lively and Baldoni emerged during the film’s release in August 2024, heightening interest in the lawsuit.
Justin and Emily Baldoni's wedding video, shared on YouTube, has garnered over 14 million views.
Known for his role in Jane the Virgin and his book Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity, Justin Baldoni has advocated for dismantling traditional notions of masculinity. Meanwhile, Lively, who shares four children with actor Ryan Reynolds, has starred in critically acclaimed films such as The Age of Adaline and A Simple Favor.
