Katt Williams recently addressed his regret for a few jokes about Michael Jackson that he made in the past. The Rebound star appeared at the Vulture Festival last month and a clip of his interview with the host of the Good One Podcast, Jesse David Fox, at the event is now grabbing a lot of attention on social media.
Notably, Katt Williams joked about Michael Jackson in a TV special titled The Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1 in 2006. According to IMDb, the special features Williams speaking on topics like drugs, politics, and pop culture.
During his appearance on the special, Katt spoke about Michael Jackson's death, calling it an accident. He pointed towards a sinister orchestration by popular personalities in the entertainment industry and additionally spoke about the artistic legacy included in the late artist's This Is It concert.
The video of Katt Williams' latest conversation was obtained by The Jasmine Brand on December 30, 2024, where Katt was speaking on the mic, saying that he should have never joked about Michael Jackson. He further stated:
"Some of these things are the reason the enemy lets you become famous is your ability to tear down your own kind. No matter how high they are."
The 53-year-old has gained recognition over the years for being featured on TV shows such as Wild 'n Out and Cuts. He even hosted the BET Hip Hop Awards in the past.
Katt Williams said that Michael Jackson's sister does not have any problem with him
While speaking to Jesse David Fox at the Vulture Festival in November 2024, the Cincinnati, Ohio native said that it is his responsibility to be funny considering that he is a comedian and he should always try to bring out the thoughts of a group that never gets an opportunity to share their opinion anywhere.
Katt Williams continued referring to the jokes he made about Michael Jackson and said:
"Those were the jokes of a man that was hurt by an icon. The fact that years later Janet Jackson said she still loves me, despite the jokes I told about her brother, was probably one of the most magnificent things. Because I say a lot of hilarious sh*t, but it costs me every time."
Speaking about his writing material, Katt Williams said that he tries to bring the best out of him. He further stated that in case things go wrong, he directly moves to the "next thing." He addressed the way he is referred to as "the undisputed king of underground comedy" at the beginning of the specials and explained the meaning of the phrase, saying:
"You're saying the "underground king" thing is because of lack of mainstream support and the fact that I was able to do what I was able to do without that support is how I got that position – and that now I've received some support, does that take away from that? Probably."
The 53-year-old will next appear in a buddy film One of Them Days, which also features Keke Palmer and SZA in the lead. It is scheduled to arrive on January 17, 2025.
