Right-wing influencer Laura Loomer made headlines after getting into a rift with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and making remarks against Indians. Laura has become one of the many X users who recently lost their verified check on the platform.
According to The Times of India, this incident occurred after Loomer criticized Musk's stance on H-1B visas and his encouragement of Indian immigrants working in the US. An X user, (@Cloudwatch199), shared a tweet on December 23, seemingly claiming that the US was built by immigrants.
Laura noticed the tweet and responded with a detailed post. On December 24, the influencer wrote:
"Our country was built by white Europeans, actually. Not third world invaders from India. You know, it was white Europeans who created the American Dream, and we didn’t create it so that it could be exploited by pro open border techies like you..."
The tweet contained some controversial remarks about Indians. While Laura Loomer targeted Musk and made some inappropriate comments, the Tesla CEO described her as a troll. In a tweet dated December 26, Musk wrote:
"Loomer is trolling for attention. Ignore."
Regarding Laura Loomer's loss of her verified check on X, claims about Musk targeting free speech have surfaced across the internet. In a tweet shared on December 27, Loomer wrote:
"Full censorship of my account simply because I called out H1B visas. This is anti-American behavior by tech oligarchs. What happened to free speech?"
Laura Loomer lashed out at Elon Musk after her verified check apparently got removed
After her blue tick was removed, Laura blamed Musk for allegedly retaliating against her remarks. In one tweet, Loomer questioned why they could not express their opinions while also supporting Musk's decision to buy X. In another tweet, she claimed that Musk admitted to the retaliation. She wrote:
"@elonmusk is now admitting it’s retaliation. 'Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.' He said, 'yes'. So calling out mass migration is 'a stupid game'? So much for free speech. Quite totalitarian if you ask me."
As reported by OPIndia on December 26, Sriram Krishnan was appointed as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, which seemingly prompted Laura Loomer to attack Krishnan. Describing Krishnan as a "career leftist," Loomer tweeted:
"It’s alarming to see the number of career leftists who are now being appointed to serve in Trump’s admin when they share views that are in direct opposition to Trump’s America First agenda."
The tweet, dated December 23, further read:
"This is very troubling. Mind you, none of the tech executives who are meeting with Trump and getting appointed in his cabinet supported him in 2020 or during the 2024 primary."
The tweet eventually attracted massive criticism from netizens who bashed Loomer for her remarks. According to The Times of India, while many criticized Laura Loomer, she also received support from some, including followers of white supremacist Nick Fuentes.
She further criticized Krishnan's previous stance on removing caps on green cards for skilled immigrants.
Born in Arizona in 1993, Laura Loomer became involved in politics in 2020 when she was endorsed by Donald Trump to run as a candidate in Florida. However, she was defeated by Democrat Lois Frankel in the race. She has been a vocal supporter of Trump.
