Allison Parliament, the creator of the well-known trend Duck Duck Jeep passed away unexpectedly on June 22. Parliament started the trend in 2020 when she placed a rubber duck on a stranger's car.

Parade reported that Parliament did that in response to an unpleasant experience she had while visiting a small Canadian community. It was her act of kindness. Other Jeep drivers then took up her act to spread compassion. Since then, drivers have covered each other’s cars in rubber ducks of various colors and sizes.

Jeep "ducking" or Duck Duck Jeep is the practice of attaching a rubber duck to someone's Jeep and leaving heartfelt messages behind. With that first rubber duck, Allison put on a Jeep, she unintentionally ignited a wave of generosity, camaraderie, and appreciation.

The Duck Duck Jeep trend began innocently. After having a terrifying verbal and physical encounter with someone earlier in the day, Allison Parliament initiated the trend by perching a miniature yellow duck on a Jeep Wrangler similar to hers that she noticed in a parking lot.

The trend was initiated in the summer of 2020. Allison’s concept gained popularity and quickly became a national movement.

After the Duck Duck Jeep took off two years ago like wildfire, her Jeep dodging Facebook group currently has over 79.0K members. The trend is present in all 50 states of the USA, Canada, and even foreign nations like Australia and Spain.

Motor Trend reported that according to Allison-

"Jeeps get ducked for many reasons and with lots of motivations and meanings. For me, it was an act of kindness, a healing of sorts, as well as recognition of and greeting to a fellow Jeep owner. But it can just be that you like their Jeep, or it's the same Jeep you have, or maybe a classic Jeep you would like to own one day. You don't really need a reason for Jeep ducking other than to connect, bring a smile to someone's face, and have fun."

Sources like Newberg Dodge Jeep Chrysler said that the selection of rubber ducks was based on their widespread popularity. They're also ideal for taking on any Jeep excursion because of their modest size and durability.

Motor Trend further stated that Allison once said-

"There really are not any strict rules about how to Duck someone's Jeep, but the idea is to keep the act of ducking a Jeep within polite and noninvasive gestures.”

Moreover, she never got into anyone's Jeep with a rubber duck inside of it. Addressing the same, she continued-

"I also never place a rubber duck on a Jeep where the driver won't find it immediately upon approaching their Jeep.”

Her top picks for suitable locations to duck someone on a Jeep include the front bumper, the front of the engine hood, the front fenders, and the tops of the side mirrors or door handles.

On the other hand, sites like Newberg Dodge Jeep Chrysler have reported that although there aren't any official requirements for joining the "Duck Duck Jeep" trend, most players tend to abide by a few unspoken regulations. First and foremost, participation is open to all Jeep vehicles, not just Wranglers.

Second, it should be creative, whether that means coming up with a unique concept or matching the duck's color to the Jeep. The participants are also encouraged to use the hashtag #duckduckJeep when posting pictures and videos of the trend. Nearly 200,000 posts on Instagram have already included the hashtag.

Finally, the Duck Duck Jeep trend’s main objective is to spread happiness and love. Thus, players must always give and receive ducks with a smile and a spirit of unity.
