TikToker Goddess Lydia, whose username is @spoillydiaxo, shared a compilation video of men using the trend to "lock in" their fitness objectives for the rest of the year. However, the original concept of Locktober signifies something completely different.

During the whole month of October, people choose to stay celibate. Vol-cells, in contrast to involuntary celibates, intentionally abstain from having physical pleasure. To participate in this trend, a man locks his genitalia in a chastity cage and gives the keys to a willing partner.

As per Them’s October 9 article, participants report feeling a great sense of liberty after wearing the chastity device cage for 31 days in a row. They no longer feel subject to social expectations or pressure to perform well in the bedroom.

In a recent TikTok trend known as "Locktober," men, typically those who consider themselves more submissive, spend the full month of October with chastity cages covering their intimate areas. According to an article in Pride, published on October 7, it has existed for roughly ten years and typically gives men a chance to experiment with the concept of physical purity.

According to Them's October 9 report, contrary to what some may think, the trend is not just for the gay or queer community. It also requires concentration and willpower, frequently combining ideas of submission and authority. After starting the trend, netizens often share pictures on social media to document their progress.

On the other hand, many netizens also choose to focus on self-goal and self-development through this trend. According to the same Them report, Santa Cruz Medicinals' Brendan Ruh stated in a video that appears to be the origin of the new trend,

"Locktober challenge starts soon. What is Locktober? What do I want you to do? No processed food for 30 days. Hit protein goals, read one book before the end of the month, and work out like a demon."

The challenge also promotes giving up vices like drugs and alcohol. The trend seems to be a self-help plan that people can "lock in" to, in order to improve themselves. Muscle increases can occasionally result from Locktober-related activities. Additionally, some even mixed up the concept of being chaste as well as being fit and made something out of the two.

They discovered that going to the gym and maintaining an active lifestyle while locked helps divert their attention and occasionally provides an outlet for the pent-up energy that arises from being confined.

Other TikTok trends that went viral in October

Locktober is not the only trend that went viral in October. One TikTok trend that became popular in the first half of the month is October Theory. The trend states that, like January 1, individuals see October 1 as a symbolic new beginning.

Some view the day as a fresh start, welcoming the same enthusiasm and renewed motivation for personal development as on New Year's Day. This mindset has been embraced by many TikTok users, who share their plans to better themselves and their goals for the year's last quarter.

Apart from this, the phrase Hopecore also went viral, which TikTokers used to share inspirational quotes and films to spread optimism and love. To do so, the videos usually include montages of joyful occasions, assembling footage of individuals being amiable or charming. Originally centered around sports, it gradually evolved into more family-friendly cuts.
