A TikTok user has ignited a new trend after explaining how she is always “demure” and “mindful” while getting ready for work. The trend has ignited an entire movement of people “demuremaxxing,” with RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen also taking part in the social media occurrence.

Over the past few weeks, TikTok user Jools Lebron, best known as @joolieannie on the video-sharing platform, has used the aforementioned words in multiple videos. In one of her most popular clips, which amassed nearly three million views in just 10 days, the netizen said:

“You see how I do my makeup for work? Very demure. Very mindful. I don’t come to work with a green-cut crease. I don’t look like a clown when I go to work. I don’t do too much. I’m very mindful while I’m at work. You see how I look very presentable? The way I came to the interview is the way I got the job.”

Lebron went on to opine that women are not getting jobs because they show up to interviews looking like The Simpsons’ television character Marge Simpson. She also added:

“Not demure. I’m very modest. I’m very mindful. You see my shirt? Only a little chee chee out, not my cho cho. Be mindful of why they hired you. Here’s your reality check, diva. What’s the name you’d like me to make it out to?”

This led to internet users using phrases like “very mindful” and “very demure” repeatedly across social media platforms.

More about the “demure” and “mindful” TikTok trend as “demuremaxxing” takes over social media

For those uninitiated, demure refers to being modest, reserved, and shy. It appears as if Lebron was asking women to present themselves in an elegant and restrained manner while one was in a professional setting.

The phrases “very modest” and “very demure” led to “demuremaxxing” becoming a TikTok trend. The suffix “maxxing” is often used to describe the action of taking a trend to the extreme. In this case, it would mean people being as modest as they possibly can.

The term “demuretsey” also went viral on TikTok. The phrase combines the words “demure” and "cutesy,” with the latter being frequently used by the TikTok user in multiple videos as well.

Lebron’s content also caught the eye of Bob the Drag Queen, who took to the video-sharing platform to create a TikTok video that featured the sound used in Lebron’s social media posts. In the video, Bob can be seen applying makeup and lip-syncing to Lebron’s rule of being modest.

Bob the Drag Queen’s TikTok video managed to amass over a million views in just 24 hours.

The TikTok trend garnered the internet’s attention just after “brat summer” went viral as well. The latter internet phrase refers to Generation Z living a life full of pleasure, fun, and relaxation. This can include partying and wearing extravagant outfits, which are mostly inspired by the Y2K movement. The social media trend was inspired by singer Charli XCX’s latest brat album, which explores similar themes.
