"What nonsense record is this?" — Netizens react to Guinness World Records for the most fan blades stopped using tongue in a minute

On January 2, 2025. Guinness World Records shared a clip on X featuring a Telangana man named Kranthi Kumar Panikera aka DrillMan who stopped multiple electric fan blades using only his tongue. According to the unique record, Kranthi could stop about "57 fan blades" in just a minute.

Kranthi put his tongue in several electric fans which had their front grill removed. The stunt was shown in Italy's Lo Show Dei Record on February 2, 2024, shocking several members in the audience. After the clock ticked 60 seconds, Kranthi Kumar Panikera was interrupted by Lo Show Dei Record announcer, who yelled "stop."

The adjudicators first reviewed the footage of his stunt and then Kranthi was given the certificate by host Enrico Papi. Guinness World Records website stated:

"DrillMan was overcome with emotion after achieving this title."

This particular act garnered massive attention on the internet. People shared their opinions on X, with one user (@Victorfrancis04) commenting:

"What nonsense record is this?"
"The hell is this. Make records in maths and physics not stopping fans," another user tweeted.
"Get this man an H1B immediately! Top talent! lol," added a tweet.
"How do you even find out you can do this," questioned a netizen.

Many other social media users had the same perspective. Many wondered why the man chose this act to be a part of the Guinness World Records. Some, however, praised Kranthi for his talent.

"I mean we were all told that the tongue us the strongest muscle in the human body, but bro took it very seriously," a user tweeted.
"So it's true what they say about Indian talent? Amazing! Go India!" wrote a netizen.
"Fascinating," declared a user.

Exploring more about Kranthi Kumar Panikera who got enlisted on the Guinness World Records

Before becoming a performer and getting listen on the Guinness World Records, the Suryapet native was an IAS aspirants, as reported by The Economic Times on January 3, 2025. According Kranthi's website (kranthidrillman.com), he has shown his acts on several shows in India, including India's Got Talent, Zee Talent Show, India Ka Mast Kalandar, and Big Celebrity Challenge.

He has also previously auditioned for some international shows like America’s Got Talent and Tengo Talento Mucho Talento. Kranthi received a recommendation for America's Got Talent, after he appeared on India's Got Talent.

As per The Economic Times, Kranthi has been supporting his family consisting of father Sattaiah and mother Mallamma, through masonry works. His family first learned about his talent, back in 2015 when he performed on India's Got Talent. The family was reportedly supportive, despite having safety concerns initially.

Meanwhile, Kranthi has performed sever other similar acts as well, such as inserting most number of nails (22) in the nose using a hammer in a minute. His unconventional talent has drawn worldwide attention, with many netizens expressing shock and appreciation simultaneously.
