On November 7, Elon Musk posted on X, seemingly congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. He shared a picture of the two and included the Latin phrase "Novus Ordo Seclorum," meaning "a new order of the ages." The post has garnered nearly 20 million views at the time of writing.
The term was coined by the Roman poet Virgil. It was also heard in the metal band Megadeath’s Washington is Next song. It appears on the back of U.S. dollar bills and the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States as well.
As per X page Shadow of Ezra, the phrase:
“Signifies the beginning of a new era and was intended to reflect the founding of the United States as a lasting nation rooted in freedom and democratic principles.”
The phrase was initially also used by the secretary of the Congress of the Confederation, Charles Thomson. Elon Musk was likely referring to the new world order of Trump 2.0 as he is set to take the Oval Office in January 2025.
Elon Musk ardently supported Donald Trump through the elections
Elon Musk initially stood as a moderate Democrat but changed his stance to Republican during Joe Biden’s presidency. He went on to publicly endorse Donald Trump in the wake of the latter’s Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt.
Just last week, Musk encouraged people to vote in the battleground states.
Elon Musk spent election night with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, resort as per his X account. This comes after he reportedly donated over $119 million to America PAC.
Just last month, Musk took to X to encourage followers to vote for Trump by saying:
“I have never been materially active in politics before, but this time I think civilization as we know it is on the line. If we want to preserve freedom and a meritocracy in America, then Trump must win.”
Musk has plenty to gain after extending support to Trump, including the latter announcing that the former is going to be invited into his administration to eliminate government waste.
As per BBC, Musk’s SpaceX company can gain responsibility for sending government satellites to space. This comes after Boeing lost the space war to Musk's company when it came to saving two astronauts from the ISS back in August.
SpaceX can also move to build spy satellites similar to the Pentagon.
BBC also shared that Musk’s Tesla can gain tremendous gains especially after the United Auto Workers filed unfair labor practices against Trump and Musk.
Musk was also doing his best to ensure that Tesla would not unionize.
With Elon Musk and Donald Trump discussing firing striking workers on X, it is possible that unionizing would be a challenge with the latter becoming president.
Trump has also discussed lowering taxes on corporations and the wealthy.
Meanwhile, Musk has been flooding X with posts celebrating Trump and the election process.
