Influencer couple Campbell 'Pookie' Puckett and her husband Jett Puckett went viral on TikTok multiple times for their couple-centric videos. Jett shared a video on Instagram and TikTok on Jan 8, announcing that his wife recently got surgery to remove pre-cancer. He shared,
"Pookie had to have surgery to remove some pre-cancer. We found out about this a while back. It's been very scary, especially for me. I am so madly in love with Campbell that the thought of anything at all being wrong with her is, frankly, more than I can bear."
He went on to praise his wife, who gave birth to their daughter Paloma in November,
"Campbell, on the other hand, has been incredibly strong, incredibly brave about this. She just always has this tremendously strong faith that everything is going to work out."
Jett shared he got a bouquet and her favorite, 'the iconic Pookie salad' from Chick-fil-A. He then showed up to Pookie, who was resting in bed, saying,
"You're just remarkable, and I really admire and cherish your faith that everything's gonna work out. You're just the best person I know."
As per Verywell Health, pre-cancer cells are cells that have grown abnormally. These might become cancerous cells, but that usually doesn't happen. Pre-cancer cells are treatable.
"In many cases, the abnormal cells will remain the same or even return to normal. Most precancerous cells do not morph into invasive cancer cells."
What causes pre-cancer, and is Pookie's condition serious?
According to CancerCenter, there are multiple reasons why pre-cancer cells may develop in the body. Some viruses, like human papillomavirus (HPV), cause the cells in the cervix and other body parts to grow into precancerous cells.
Excessive inflammation in the body can lead to pre-cancer. People with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) etc can get pre-cancer.
Excessive sun exposure might cause pre-cancer cells to develop on the skin. Exposure to carcinogens like asbestos, benzene, arsenic, etc, can lead to pre-cancer.
As per Verywell Health, pre-cancer cells can be removed through cryotherapy. If cryotherapy is not possible, then doctors recommend surgery.
"When cryotherapy is unsuitable (such as for larger dysplastic lesions), surgery may be used to remove affected tissues and some of the surrounding tissues. This is called an excisional surgery performed under local anesthesia."
Campbell 'Pookie' Puckett shared an update on her Instagram story, assuring her fans that she is alright.
Pookie thanked her husband and their followers for supporting her. She said,
"I love you so much. Thank you, and thank you guys for being here. We're so thankful to have you here and to love our family. It means everything to us."
Last year, the TikTok star got in trouble when an old picture of her resurfaced, causing outrage among her fans. The fans got very emotional after hearing this update from the couple.
They supported the influencer, showering her comment section with prayers and positivity and wishing her a speedy recovery.
