Days before early voting began, a verified audio clip of Houston mayoral candidate Sheila Jackson Lee went viral on social media on Friday, October 20. In the clip, she seemed angrily berating a staff member.
In the clip, Sheila Jackson Lee seemed annoyed and called a male employee who could not answer her questions about an apparent mess-up related to an impending event.
The Texas congresswoman can be heard berating the male worker in the 95-second audio clip provided to multiple news sources. The staffer can be heard stating that another team member possesses the material that she requested.
Sheila Jackson Lee then stated that,
“I want you to have a f*cking brain,” Lee said. “I want you to have read it. I want you to say, ‘Congresswoman, it was such and such date.' That's what I want."
Netizens have condemned Sheila Jackson Lee for her recent leaked audio tape
Recently, recorded audio of Sheila Jackson Lee, a Texas representative, unleashing a foul-mouthed tirade on one of her employees went public.
In the audio, she can be heard chastising the male member for not managing calendar events, particularly ones featuring Ovide Duncantell, the founder of the Black Heritage Society, Inc. Sheila Jackson Lee kept spouting obscenities at the employee.
The Congresswoman also stated that she needed to know the date and location of the incident from whoever took the information rather than passing it off to another person. As per the Texas news outlet Current Revolt, she added,
“You took a piece of paper from that woman regarding something that was owned by Duncantell. Where is it? What date was it?”
Sheila Jackson Lee continued to abuse and yell at the employee, claiming that she expected staff members to be aware of the specifics of events, particularly those planned by the representative.
In response, the staff said he handed the piece of paper to Jerome, who carried it upstairs. The employee then cuts Jackson Lee off after telling him he needs to call someone named Jerome. He replied that.
“When I called Jerome, he only sits up there like a fat [expletive], just talking about what the [expletive] he doesn’t know,” she further said. “Both of y’all are f***-ups… This is the worst [expletive] that I could’ve ever had put together. Two [expletive] big [expletive] children. [expletive] idiots. Serve no [expletive] purpose.”
The Congresswoman can be heard angrily saying,
“I don’t want you to do a [expletive] thing. I want you to have a [expletive] brain. I want you to have read it. I want you to say, ‘Congresswoman, it was such and such a date. That’s what I want. That’s the kind of staff that I want to have”.
This entire video sparked furious reactions from the netizens. When the news was uploaded by X user GOP Chairwoman, social media users took to the comment section and started criticizing the Congresswoman for the audio.
Houston Public Media and Fox News contacted Lee's congressional office, campaign, and previous staff members to ask questions about the recording. However, as of this Monday afternoon, October 23, they still haven't heard back.
