It all began on Thursday, November 28, 2024, when TikToker Jake Shane (@octopusslover8) shared a clip of him and the model dancing to Lola Young’s Messy from her 2024 album This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway.
The video shows Richie and Shane in front of a scenic backdrop. The model can be seen doing a shimmy and then swaying rhythmically to the track in a simple backward move, giving off a cool vibe. Shane's (@octopusslover8) TikTok has since garnered over 19.2 million views and over 1.5 million likes on the platform.
Her vibe and style struck a chord with viewers, and the dance soon went viral, with many attempting to recreate the dance, which has since become the Sofia Dance.
