Hailey Welch, the originator behind the internet's latest sensation 'Hawk Tuah' appeared on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast on July 1, 2024, to clear up several misconceptions that cropped up after her overnight fame.

One such rumor was that she was fired from her job as a teacher due to the mildly explicit nature of her answer.

The conversation about her employment came when Welch explained to host Brianna Lapaglia that she realized Hawk Tuah was an internet sensation when she woke up at 2 am one morning to get ready for work.

This prompted Lapaglia to ask Welch about her job and the rumors of her being fired. The latter confirmed that she was not a teacher, adding:

“I work in a spring factory. I’m not a school teacher.”

The spring factory refers to a bed spring factory in her hometown of Belfast, Tennessee. She elaborated that she was too young to be a teacher since she was only 21 and added she had dropped out of school last year.

Hailey Welch became widely known as the Hawk Tuah Girl after her onomatopoeic answer during a street interview with YouTuber duo Tim and Dee TV on June 11, 2024. When asked what was the one move that made a man go crazy in bed, Welch famously replied:

"Oh, you have got to give it that 'hawk tuah' and spit on that thang, you get me?"

Her answer went viral, touching every corner of the internet and becoming meme fodder for the following weeks.

The phrase that took over the internet also led to several speculations about Welch, including that her dad is a preacher.

However, Hailey Welch, the meme's originator, clarified doubts about her identity and busted some myths. Speaking on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast, she revealed:

“My father is so far from a preacher, it’s crazy. He’s a little offended. They [my family] think it’s so funny. They know how I am though, cause you can never tell what comes out of my mouth. It’s a hit or miss what comes out of my mouth, I just talk out of my a**."

She added that she had deactivated all her social media accounts nearly six months ago, which explained why people could not find her online. However, according to Forbes, Welch hoped to make a comeback after reportedly making $65,000 in merchandise sales selling hats with her iconic phrase emblazoned on them.

Welch also wants to move beyond being defined as the 'Hawk Tuah' girl. She appeared on stage during Zach Bryan's show in Nashville and has reportedly already signed with a management team.
