The news that Zendaya and Tom Holland were engaged went viral after the actress was photographed at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5. She graced the red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton burnt-orange ball gown, paired with a cushion-cut diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger.
Page Six, among other news outlets, confirmed the engagement on January 6, citing multiple sources. On Friday, January 10, Holland's father, Dominic, also confirmed the news in a Patreon post. While he stated that he wouldn't reveal specific details about the newly engaged couple's special moment, he admitted that his son came prepared. He wrote:
"Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared."
Dominic also shared snippets of Tom Holland's preparations for the proposal, including asking Zendaya's father, adding:
"He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out... When, where, how, what to say, what to wear."
Neither Zendaya nor Tom Holland explicitly confirmed the engagement, which is not surprising given that they have always kept their relationship private. However, the Euphoria actress has been seen wearing the same engagement ring from the 2025 Golden Globes. On January 6, she attended a special screening of her sports drama film Challengers at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California.
For the event, the Dune actress wore an all-black outfit—a plunging leather jacket, tulle skirt, and Christian Louboutin heels—and her 5-carat engagement ring. This marked the Spider-Man star's first public outing since news of her acceptance of Holland's proposal broke.
Tom Holland's father believes his son and Zendaya "will make a successful union"
In his January 10 Patreon post, Tom Holland's father, Dominic Holland, shared some hopeful wishes for the two Hollywood stars now that they are engaged to be married. Despite the couple being constantly in the public eye, the Holland patriarch said that he is confident that the couple won't let the spotlight negatively impact their relationship.
With the future bride and groom's "combined stardom," Dominic admitted that he sometimes "fret." However, he also believes that Tom Holland and Zendaya would continue to navigate the intricacies of their relationship and the challenges that come with their Hollywood careers.
The couple confirmed their relationship status in 2021 after years of on-and-off rumors about their dating life. While they are often seen together, they still keep their personal lives private. They've been together ever since, and Dominic Holland said that he believes that they will last, stating in his Patreon post:
"I am completely confident they will make a successful union."
Speaking of the couple, they reportedly got a matching tattoo ahead of the engagement. Tattoo artist Lily Jarnryd told People in an article published on January 8 that she worked with the "lovely" couple when they got matching tattoos of each other's initials on November 27, 2024, in Boston.
Two days earlier, on January 6, People reported that Tom Holland and Zendaya were not rushing the wedding, as both are busy with work projects. The same exclusive source mentioned that the engagement happened sometime during the holidays, with Holland eager to share the news with friends during New Year's.
