Amanda Webster, 44-year-old art teacher at Thompson Crossing Elementary School in Franklin Township, Indianapolis, has reportedly gone missing while on vacation in Puerto Rico.
Amanda Webster, who was vacationing alone, reportedly landed in Puerto Rico on Monday, October 9, 2023. The 44-year-old, who was staying at a rented home on the Island, was last seen in Casa Parcha, sector Camino Viejo in Naguabo, a city on the east side of the island, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Local Police Commissioner Antonio Lopez Figueroa activated a missing person’s alert when the landlord of the home where Webster was staying notified the police after finding her bags and rental car at the residence when she failed to check in.

In a Facebook post on Friday, October 13, Puerto Rico Police issued a plea for information in the search for the missing Indianapolis woman Amanda Webster, who disappeared while vacationing on the Island on October 11.
Police, who described Amanda as a white female with blonde hair, blue eyes, 5’6” and weighing approximately 147 pounds, said that they activated “Ashanti Alert” on Friday, asking local citizens on the Island to help search for Webster.
“The notification of Ashanti Alert does NOT replace the investigation already initiated by Police and other agencies. This is just an additional tool in a person’s search to identify any additional information that can support the work already initiated by agents.”
Police said that multiple agencies, including the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of the Police, are assisting with the search for the missing woman. The search is reportedly focused on the wooded area where Webster was seen by another person on October 11, 2023.

As police continued to scour the area for signs of the missing person, Webster’s friends took to social media to amplify the message of her disappearance in the online community, hoping it would give a lead as to her whereabouts. A friend wrote:
“Please share this post!!!! She is one of the most important/special people in my life and I know so many others can say the same because that’s how amazing of a person she is. Please pray she is found soon and please share this post to get it out there!!”
Webster’s friends told WTHR that the sudden disappearance was uncharacteristic for the elementary school teacher who had constantly kept them in the loop about her travel before she vanished on Wednesday.
"She was really good about checking in and checking out, letting people know, especially when she's on her own, and she had told them she was going hiking there and she never came back," said Heather Clark.
