Offering fans absolute freedom with how they like their ketchup, Heinz recently unveiled a new REMIX machine. Dubbed "the first customizable and IoT-enabled digital sauce dispenser," the new machine allows customers to choose from a number of sauces to make their own perfect ketchup mix or pick from a menu of pre-made recipes.
Officially debuting this weekend, the new customizable digital sauce dispenser is making its first appearance at the 2023 National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago.
The latest innovation from the company's "Away From Home" (AFH) division, the REMIX dispenser boasts over 200 possible combinations, allowing customers to make their mixes spicier, sweeter, or smokier. As per the company, the interface on the dispenser allows the user to choose from a range of 'bases,' and then customize them with one or more 'enhancers'. Users can also choose their preferred intensity level (low, medium, or high) to make the perfect sauce.
The brand unveiled the REMIX customizable and IoT-enabled digital sauce dispenser through a press release on May 17, with Alan Kleinerman, Vice President of Disruption, quoting:
“As a company, we’re transforming through innovation by making bigger, more intentional bets to fuel our growth and create new experiences for consumers.”
Briefing fans about the new dispenser, Kleinerman added:
“HEINZ REMIX is a great example of this consumer-first approach to innovation. We’re changing the game for foodservice operators and sauce lovers - dipping will never be the same... Who knows – maybe our next new sauce combination will come from a superfan using HEINZ REMIX!”

Offering customers complete control of the heat and flavors of their ketchup mixes, Kraft Heinz has unveiled the new REMIX digital sauce dispenser. Boasting over 200 possible combinations, the new customizable and IoT-enabled digital sauce dispenser allows individuals to create their ketchup mixes with just a few taps on the interface. From customizing the heat to adding extra smokiness, the new sauce dispenser allows users to have their ketchup just the way they like it.
Offering customers a simple yet interactive user experience, the digital sauce dispenser comes with a touchscreen interface.
The free-standing machine enables the user to first select from a range of available 'bases' – currently including HEINZ Ketchup, Ranch, 57® Sauce, and BBQ Sauce – then personalize the mix further with one or more 'enhancers' – currently including Jalapeño, Smoky Chipotle, Buffalo, and Mango. The user can also customize the heat, and flavors of the 'enhancers' by choosing their preferred intensity level.
Making its first appearance at the 2023 National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, the new sauce dispenser can be seen first between May 20 and May 23, 2023. As of now, the sauce dispenser isn't available for use anywhere, but individuals visiting the 2023 National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago can be the first ones to try it out.
Furthermore, Heinz is planning to pilot the innovation with restaurant operators across the country from late 2023 to early 2024. If all goes well, customers across the country will be able to create their ketchup mixes with the new dispenser at restaurants by the end of 2023.
