Lucas Palma, a 23-year-old man from Long Island, disappeared after he was supposedly picked up by a car on Davis Avenue in Blue Point on May 20, 2023. As per the missing person’s mother, Palma was last seen at his residence at Blue Point on May 20, shortly before getting into the car.
A day after Lucas Palma vanished, his mother, Rita Palma, confirmed that the 23-year-old was found dead in a canal on May 21, 2023. The family did not provide further information on the circumstances that led to his disappearance and subsequent death.
Authorities have also not disclosed any information in connection to the missing person’s case. As of yet, the details behind Palma’s disappearance are unknown.
Details behind Lucas Palma's disappearance explored
Lucas Palma’s disappearance was first highlighted by Non-Profit Organization Hope Alive 845, which posted flyers on their Facebook group seeking information on the missing person. The non-profit said that Palma was last seen on May 20 around 1.30 am at his residence in Blue Point New York. The missing person was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs around 150 pounds, and has dusty blonde hair.
Plama’s mother said that a missing person report had been filed at the Suffolk Police Department, adding that he was caught on surveillance footage being picked up by a car around 1.40 am on May 20. Rita Palma also offered a $25,000 reward for information that would lead to her son’s whereabouts.
However, on May 21, Rita, in a Facebook post, confirmed that her son was found dead in a canal. She said:
“Dearest friends, our search has tragically ended. Lucas Reed Palma was found in the canal this afternoon. God has chosen Lucas to be with Him and we will catch up at His choosing so we can adore Lukey in Heaven as we did on Earth."
Rita also expressed her gratitude to the online community for amplifying the message of her son’s disappearance.
“My deepest gratitude for your efforts, and prayers. My family is deeply and profoundly sad. Please wish my youngest peace. The hole he leaves in our lives is beyond measure.”
Lucas Palma's death was also confirmed by the Hope Alive non-profit group, which first helped amplify the missing person report.
“LUCAS PALMA has been found, Hope Alive 845 sends our love and condolences to the family. Please respect their privacy at this time.”
As the family mourns the death of Palma, the circumstances behind his death remain unclear.
In a similar incident, Chase Stafford, a 25-year-old Tennessee woman, who disappeared after she was dropped off on Chapmansboro Road in Ashland City on May 10, 2023, was found dead at the Cheatham Dam on Thursday, May 18.
