American professional wrestler, actor, and former MMA fighter CM Punk made headlines after he called himself “Taylor Swift for Men,” during the August 19 promotional event for WWE RAW in Florida.

“When fans hand me bracelets that they took the time to make, maybe insignificant to other people, maybe a Taylor Swift thing, but let’s face it, I’m Taylor Swift for men,” he addressed the audience cheering his name out loud.

CM Punk mentioned how his fans from across the world came to watch him at the recent Fanatics Fest in New York City and handed over colorful bracelets, showing their love, support, loyalty, and friendship for him.

He further mentioned how bracelets like these reminded him of the time when his opponent and Scottish wrestler Drew McIntyre “took off” from his unconscious body when he “jumped” him in his hometown in Chicago, Illinois.

In the wake of CM Punk’s now-viral remark, especially concerning pop icon Taylor Swift, the internet is having diverse reactions. For instance, X user @meme_cycle commented on Wrestle Ops post on the same by claiming that rapper Kanye West didn’t “grab” Punk’s microphone as he did with Swift during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

“Where’s Kanye to grab the mic?” the user wrote.

Many other social media users joined the conversation and shared similar reactions.

“ok there buddy calm down,” a person wrote.
“Probably the dumbest thing he's ever said,” one person wrote.
“More like d*uche for men,” another person wrote.

Others lauded CM Punk for his remark.

“H*ll yeah, he is. He the Best in the World for a reason” a netizen wrote.
“Legendary line,” another netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, some even went on to call the wrestler an entertainer with the mic.

“Punk got the funniest promos man LMAO,” an individual wrote.
“CM Punk knows how to entertain,” another individual wrote.

Exploring CM Punk’s connection to Taylor Swift in the wake of his viral comment

Monday’s WWE RAW promo event was not the only time CM Punk has referenced Taylor Swift. In January 2024, the former AEW champion shared an image of the pop star on his Instagram Story. It showed a grainy photo of the Lover songstress holding a mini CM Punk action figure.

However, she has never shared the image herself, nor did her fans. So far, the context and authenticity of the image also remains a mystery. Taylor Swift has also not addressed the matter, even though it raised a widespread online conversation at the time.

Meanwhile, during CM Punk’s AEW fallout controversy, one of his fans also drew a comparison with Swift’s 2022 single Anti-Hero from the tenth studio album Midnights.

“'ANTI-HERO' @/CMPunk. When T Swift said: ‘I wake up screaming from dreaming/ One day I’ll watch as you’re leaving/ ‘Cause you got tired of my scheming.’ I said, ‘CM Punk?’ #AEW #AEWDynamite #AEWRampage #CMPunk,” the viral tweet read.

Notably, during a recent interview with ESPN for First Take, the 45-year-old wrestler shared that he was deemed “polarizing for some odd reason,” even though he was always “polite” and “kind” unless somebody stepped “out of line.”

As for his upcoming games, he is all set to take on his arch-rival Drew McIntyre later this year during a strap match at WWE Bash in Berlin, Germany, and is looking to settle scores following his loss at WWE Summer Slam.
