On July 2, 2024, Trisha Paytas took to X to seemingly promote Eminem’s upcoming The Death of Slim Shady album. The move might come as a surprise to many, as the former has never expressed her interest in rap music. However, for those uninitiated, the YouTuber has appeared in the singer’s We Made You music video in the past.
Popular X page Pop Base took to the social networking site to reveal that Eminem was releasing his upcoming album on Friday, July 12, 2024. Reacting to the same, Trisha Paytas said on X:
“Can I be in the next video.”
Trisha Paytas was seemingly hinting at her experience working with Eminem in the past. In 2009, the internet personality appeared in the We Made You track, which has now amassed over 230 million views on YouTube.
Exploring Trisha Paytas’ role in Eminem’s We Made You music video
Trisha Paytas played Jessica Simpson in the We Made You music video. The controversial music video showcased the former dressed in daisy dukes and a red cropped blouse. The outfit was inspired by Simpson’s character in The Dukes of Hazzard.
In the music video, one could see her dancing and eating a cheeseburger. Eminem later revealed that he was attempting to mock Simpson’s physical appearance at that time. Speaking to the Detroit Metro Times in 2009, the musician stated that he was initially “conflicted” to mock Simpson, but decided to go that route. Eminem stated:
“We were gonna have a Jessica in the video. When I say, ‘Jessica Simpson, sing the chorus’, we were gonna have a chick who looked like Jessica Simpson come out and sing the chorus.’ But then Jessica got fat… And we wanted to stay within the current of what’s going on right now in pop culture.”
After Eminem decided to portray Jessica Simpson with the help of Trisha Paytas, the latter came to his defense by speaking highly of his character. Paytas said in a TikTok video:
“Eminem, he was very fun. And just like all over the place, and just like a ball of energy… I remember Marshall, or Eminem being like, ‘Oh my gosh, you look better than the real Jessica Simpson, don’t be self-conscious.’”
We Made You went on to become an internet trend. Last year, Paytas recorded a video of herself dancing to the song. The clip was quick to amass over four million views. She also revealed online:
“Fun fact: I did choreograph this myself there was no direction.”
Popular content creator Tana Mongeau also recorded herself dancing to the hit track.
Fans now await Eminem’s comeback. In a trailer for the album, one could see a woman giving birth to a baby, and frighteningly, the baby is not breathing until the doctor gives it a few slaps to wake up. Later on, the doctors deal with another issue of the baby opening their eyes and it being back.
The newborn then slithers their tongue and grows horns. People in the room then shout “Holy s**t,” subsequently leading to the Houdini soundtrack playing in the background.
