Loki season 2 episode 2 saw our favorite duo come together, as teased in the previous episode. The Kozmic Blues by Janis Joplin hums in the background as the credits roll.
The well-known song first gained notoriety at the 1969 Woodstock festival and fits perfectly with Loki and his current shenanigans at the TVA. Sylvie, a Princess of Asgard, bids farewell to her coworker and watches the world go by, thankfully without ending (for now) and the song is an epic theme for our other God of mischief.
It appears fitting for the rare great song to crop up in the timeline when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his partner Mobius (Owen Wilson) are attempting to rescue. Loki season 2 episode 2 spends most of its time (no pun intended) jumping around and through time itself.
Loki season 2 episode 2 features a classic tune for a character with class
It's nothing unusual to have a piece of good music accompany one of these stories with a comic book theme. Songs from Iron Man, Thor: Ragnarok, and every Guardians of the Galaxy movie have become staples on fans' playlists. Another great addition was made to fans' playlist in this week's episode of the time-traveling sitcom by Marvel, Loki.
Janis Joplin's Kozmic Blues made its debut in 1969 and can be found on the album I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama! It was one of her first songs to be published after she split up with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Kozmic Blues fits Sylvie's present state of mind wonderfully, despite the fact that it may not be a song we hear much for the remainder of the season.
The lyrics read,
"Time keeps moving on; friends, they turn away. I keep moving on but never found out why."
The more mean and menacing incarnation of Loki, who is now serving chicken nuggets, has always been a loner, maybe even more so than her original scared timeline version. After the events of last season, Slyvie continues to embrace this lifestyle of solitude, constantly pushing people away. It looks like, Loki season 2 episode 2 is helping her gain a footing and lose her trust issues.
There's no knowing where Sylvie will wind up by the time Loki Season 2 wraps up, given that previews for the show have focused mostly on Tom Hiddleston's supernatural character and not Sylvie. We can only hope that she eventually finds some peace, but considering how much control He Who Remains still has over the TVA despite having been rendered dead by Sylvie's deeds, it seems unlikely that she will do so any time soon.
Loki season 2 episode 2 is humorously titled Breaking Brad and is now streaming on Disney+
