Who is Adut Akech engaged to? All about the South Sudanese-Australian model as she announces her pregnancy 

Popular South Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech announced the news of her pregnancy via an Instagram post on July 31. Akech, 24, who is engaged to boyfriend Samuel Elkhier wrote she was “Beyond BLESSED” and was eager to meet the little “bundle of joy”.

In a recent Vogue interview, Akech shared snippets from her pregnancy journey. According to the model, the 20-year age gap with her own mother has been instrumental in building a close relationship between the two. She expressed her wish to become a young mother herself:

"I always said I wanted to be a young mom because I love the idea of growing up with your kids."

Akech revealed having a precognitive dream before discovering she was expecting. The young model initially believed it was her sister who would be having a baby. But her strange appetite for oranges and abrupt weariness after work soon gave away the truth.

Recalling the day she came to know about her approaching motherhood, Adut Akech told the outlet she felt nauseous on a drive back home from a car service center. Figuring out the possibility, the model said she took five tests and all of them came out positive, confirming her pregnancy.

South Sudan-born Adut Akech spent the early years of her childhood as a refugee in Kenya's Kakuma. Her family later moved to Adelaide, Australia, and permanently settled there in 2006.

Akech's modeling journey began at Sydney's Chadwick Models. According to her IMDb bio, the young model was launched as a "global exclusive" for Saint Laurent's Spring/Summer 2017 runway in September 2016. Anthony Vaccarello, the current creative director of the fashion house began his then-new position at this very show.

Soon after her Saint Laurent debut, Adut Akech became one of the most sought-after models in the fashion industry. Akech has worked with prominent fashion brands including, Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Valentino, Fendi, and Versace.

Akech attended the 2018 Met Gala as she donned Pierpaolo Piccioli's Valentino couture dress. She also showcased many of Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel designs as the opening and closing runway model.

Akech is now set to welcome her first child with longtime partner Samuel Elkhier. As stated in an article published by The Sydney Morning Herald, Akech announced her betrothal to Elkhier in November 2022. Akech told the outlet at the time:

"Samuel does a bit of everything, he’s in property development, he’s in music."

When asked about her pregnancy journey so far, Akech told Vogue:

"I’m good. I’m excited. I can’t wait. I’m like—can they just come already? I’m kind of over it and I’m just halfway."

The model called the experience a "beautiful feeling, but a mental and physical rollercoaster."

Adut Akech wants her kids to grow as kind and decent humans before anything. She told Vogue she wants to have four, or possibly six kids if luckily she happens to conceive twins in the future.
