⁠Who is Bianca Balti? Italian model reveals ovarian cancer diagnosis

Popular Italian model, Bianca Balti recently opened up about her battle with ovarian cancer, as she posted a picture of herself in a hospital bed on Instagram on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Claiming how she voluntarily went to the hospital after recurring abdominal pain, the model revealed:

“Last Sunday, I checked myself into the ER to find out that my lower abdominal pain was stage 3C ovarian cancer. It’s been a week full of fear, pain and tears but mostly love, hope, laughter, and strength.”

Continuing how she has a “long journey ahead,” Bianca Balti said:

“I have a long journey ahead, but I know I will beat this. For myself, my loved ones (my daughters are at the top of the list), and all of you who need strength, you can borrow some of mine cause I have loads. Life happens; give it a reason. So far, cancer has given me a chance to find beauty through life’s hurdles.”

Apart from sharing her diagnosis, Bianca Balti also shared several pictures and videos, where she is seen with her friends and family in the hospital. As soon as her post went viral, netizens and fans began pouring their wishes for the model for a speedy recovery.

Born in 1984, the 40-year-old model has worked with prestigious brands like Dolce & Gabbana for over a decade. Bianca Balti started her career when she was only 20 years old and started modeling for many brands and photographers. Balti has also been seen in many TV series like Steve, Ultimate Beastmaster: La legge del più forte and even Go Go Tales.

Bianca left her fans and the social media users shocked after she revealed that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and is currently in the hospital, undergoing treatment for the same. Her fans remember her walking the ramps for designers and brands like Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Hermés, Valentino, Prada, Oscar de le Renta and Ralph Lauren.

Furthermore, Balti first appeared on the cover of L’Officiel and later shot covers for many magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazar, W, Marie Claire, Playboy, and Cosmopolitan. Bianca also appeared in the catalogue for Victoria's Secret in 2005.

On the personal front, Balti has been married twice. She first got married to an Italian photographer, Christian Lucidi in 2007. The couple welcomed a daughter, but later parted ways in 2010. Thereafter, she married Matthew McRae in 2016 and gave birth to another girl.

While Balti continues to fight the deadly disease, Entertainment Online also reported that the model had undergone a double mastectomy in December 2022, as she was made aware that she was carrying the BRCA1 gene.

On the other hand, as per the Mayo Clinic, the signs of the disease include weight loss, pain in the abdomen and the back, along with fatigue and discomfort in the pelvic area.
