YouTuber Robert Lewis aka BlackDevilX, who created the role-playing flash games series Final Fantasy Sonic X (FFSX) has reportedly passed away. The news surfaced online on December 19 after BDX's friend Aeon shared a purported Discord message from the late YouTuber’s sister on X.

According to Aeon's post, BDX's sister wrote:

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I must regretfully announce the passing of BDX. Without going into much detail, while on vacation with his family in Aruba, he suffered a heart attack."

She added:

"Unfortunately even with the intervention of several medical professionals he was not able to be resuscitated."

BlackDevilX's sister noted further details on his sudden passing would be addressed later. Aeon, who claimed to have shared a friendship with BDX for almost 20 years, gave a nod to the YouTuber's impact on his life. BDX is reportedly survived by his wife and two sons.

The YouTuber's fans sent their tributes on X. @GamesCage_ credited BDX as one of the first creators to develop a fan game on Sonic the Hedgehog in the early 2000s.

"Condolences to his family. I hope he knew that his work was loved by tons of people. I'll never forget when my friend introduced me to them, we thought the games were the coolest things EVER when we were younger", penned one fan.

"May he rest in peace.. He created a community with FFSX, and his influence in the community will never be forgotten", commented one fan.
"His fangame shaped a part of many childhoods, including mine, I wasn't expecting such a shocking news. My condoleances to all his loved ones and his family", one more resonated.

One X user inquired about BlackDevilX's age and potential past health complications. Aeon replied the YouTuber was 36 and had heart problems. BDX reportedly survived a previous attack a few years back.

The exact date of BlackDevilX's passing was not disclosed. However, a GiveSendGo fundraiser was created by Christopher DeLucia on December 18 to collect monetary help for BDX's funeral services. DeLucia wrote:

"Rob leaves behind his loving wife, two sons, three siblings, loving Mother and Step Father, a community of followers who loved his art, and an incredible legacy."

The fundraiser has collected $465 of its $12,000 goal, with Ashley Vanslyke set to receive the funds. It's unclear if BlackDevilX's family is aware of it.

Six episodes of Final Fantasy Sonic X have been released so far. BDX reportedly worked on FFSX7 for years, finishing it once but later reworking it due to dissatisfaction. He shared snippets of the project on X.
