The Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candiace Dillard caused a stir on social media after commenting on Allison Holker’s decision to reveal that her late husband Stephen “tWitch” Boss suffered from drug addiction. Holker sat for an exclusive interview with People magazine on January 7 to share that she discovered a “cornucopia” of drugs in hidden boxes in Boss’ wardrobe.
Soon after, Candiace Dillard took to X on January 7 to react to the People magazine story by saying:
“I’m not even gonna say it. But this white woman is doing everything BUT protecting her Black children and her Black husband’s legacy. She could've kept this in her therapist’s office.”
An X user then asked the reality star if she did not think that Holker was simply trying to raise awareness of mental health issues and drug addiction by sharing the news with People magazine. In response to the same, Candiace Dillard said:
“The thesis is that care and consideration must be taken when telling Black men’s stories and I just don’t think that was done here.”
In another tweet, the 38-year-old reality star stated that Allison Holker should have taken tWitch’s story to Essence or Ebony, publications with Black women as their CEOs. Candiace Dillard said that the magazines would have taken better care of “such a tragically intimate story of a Black man’s plight against himself.”
Netizens have since taken to social media to react to Candiace Dillard’s tweets, with many expressing weariness over her bringing up race in the conversation. Many pointed out that she is married to a Caucasian man.
