New details surrounding the ongoing investigation into Luigi Mangione have recently been revealed. On Monday, January 6, TMZ reported that Mangione was vacationing in Thailand months before he allegedly murdered the United Healthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, on December 4, 2024.

Per the media outlet, Luigi Mangione took a trip across Asia in the months that followed the shooting incident, in which he traveled to Thailand alongside two German tourists, Max and Paul. The tourists opened up about the vacation in the latest TMZ documentary, Luigi Mangione: The Mind of a Killer, revealing that the 26-year-old didn't join the duo on the beach, to visit a shooting range instead.

When they met up later, all Mangione had to say about his day was that the shooting range had been expensive. Another revelation made by Max and Paul in the documentary was that Luigi Mangione was reportedly obsessed with an Indian author, Jash Dholani.

For the unversed, Jash Dholani is a 27-year-old author belonging to Mumbai, India, who published a book titled Hit Reverse: New Ideas from Old Books in January 2024. Dholani has over 110K followers on X. Per WION, global leaders like Elon Musk and Jordan Peterson are among his readers.

Jash Dholani shared three key lessons from his book in an interview

On November 12, 2024, Jash Dholani was interviewed by WION, where the author was asked what attracted him to old books. In his response, Dholani said that the authors of old books spoke their minds more freely, as they were not concerned about getting canceled.

Another reason behind his interest was that old books were vetted by time, which according to the author meant that only the best ones had survived.

Further in the interview, the subject of his book titled Hit Reverse was brought up. Jash described it as:

"Hit Reverse has 750+ new ideas from 75+ old books. People should read my book if they want the best insights from old classics (and some forgotten gems) but don't have the time to read them."

He mentioned 3 key lessons from his book:

  1. "Charisma is being comfortable in your own skin."
  2. "Napoleon on Courage: 'Courage can't be counterfeited—it's a virtue which escapes hypocrisy.'"
  3. "Men and women miscommunicate because they dance to DIFFERENT rhythms."

Elsewhere in the WION interview, Jash Dholani also spoke about a theory he had recently come across which baffled him, saying:

"Historian Stephen Meyer says there are some very weird gaps in the evolution of life. There are sudden explosions in new species, sudden increases in the size and capacity of the human brain - from 1 to 100 with nothing in between."

Dholani continued:

"Explosions and improvements so sudden that the normal evolutionary process, which takes millions of years, just can't explain them. He's saying there was some extraterrestrial influence. Very baffling idea - but he's a brilliant guy and makes his case really well."

Apart from being an author, Jash Dholani is also an internet personality who uploads informative videos on Instagram on subjects like "How to break Procrastination?," "Where did the Generalists go?," among others. Dholani has also attended global events like BrainBar and I'm Happiness Global as a special guest.

Dholani also writes essays and poems, with many of them highlighted on his Instagram profile, such as Creativity is Brutal, Take the Muse Pill, Brotherhood, and Take the Hate Pill.

Luigi Mangione flew to India to meet Jash Dholani

In the TMZ documentary, Luigi Mangione's companions from his Thailand trip, Max and Paul, revealed that Mangione appeared to be obsessed with Jash Dholani's book, Hit Reverse, and had bought 400 copies of it.

During his Asia trip, Luigi also made it a point to fly to Mumbai to meet Dholani and share his feedback on the book. Per TMZ, Dholani's book might provide some clues as to why Luigi became radicalized to the point where he allegedly gunned down Brian Thompson. However, it is not known if there could be any possible connection between his meeting and the events leading up to Brian’s murder.

The revelation about Luigi Mangione's alleged obsession with Dholani's book comes weeks after Mangione pleaded not guilty to the murder and terrorism charges in a New York court on December 23, 2024.

Per BBC, Luigi Mangione is currently facing 11 state criminal counts in New York, including first-degree murder and murder as a crime of terrorism. Beyond the state-level charges pressed on Mangione, he also faces federal stalking and murder offenses that could lead to the death penalty sentence if convicted.

Mangione, who was arrested on December 9, is scheduled to make his next court appearance on February 21, 2025.
