Jason's stepdaughter Honystye Chancellor got to know about her stepfather's death on Sunday from several friends and relatives at around 2:30 am, as per The Kansas City Star. She arrived at the site and found a crowd of people and cops surrounding the Missouri nightclub.

Although authorities are yet to reveal the identities of the victims, McConnell's family members and friends announced on social media that he was one of the individuals who was killed in the Klymax shooting.

Chancellor spoke about McConnell and said:

“Almost everybody in Kansas City knew him. He treated everybody [well]. He liked to dress- he could dress really good. We just talked on Friday. [He was a] jack of all trades.”

Chancellor stated that she is also the legal guardian of Jason McConnell's 15-year-old son. She added that Jason had worked several jobs to date. While McConnell would often wear a protective vest while working as a security official, he wasn't wearing one when the shooting broke out at Klymax Lounge.

As Chancellor spoke about the Klymax nightclub shooting victim, she said that he did not believe in violence. He believed that there was "so much more to life than violence." He was also described as a "sneakerhead" who owned over 100 pairs of shoes.

Chancellor said that she is hopeful that authorities will find the suspect(s) and bring justice to the victims and their families.

She continued by saying:

“I just hope that they do what they need to do to find out who did this, not only to him but to all those other people as well. They [were] somebody’s mom, dad, brother, sister.”

The Klymax Lounge in Missouri became famous in April 2021, and was the talk of the town online. The nightclub has been well-known for hosting live performances regularly.
