TikTok star Mr. Prada was detained by police in Dallas County, Texas, on Tuesday, October 1, in connection with a 69-year-old Louisiana therapist, William Abraham's, murder. Abraham was reportedly beaten to death before his body was dumped in a ditch along a Louisiana highway.
His body was found on Sunday wrapped in a tarp, and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed that he died after suffering from blunt force trauma, with cops reportedly ruling the death a homicide.
The following day, authorities caught the TikTok star, allegedly driving the victim's stolen car. However, he reportedly escaped after backing up into police cars. That same day, cops got ahold of CCTV images of the "person of interest" in Abraham's murder, which they posted online. Netizens quickly identified Mr. Prada within hours of police sharing the pictures of the then-unnamed person of interest.
Mr. Prada is a TikTok influencer, whose real name is Terryon Ishmael Thomas. He holds over 8 million followers across two TikTok accounts. He's a Baton Rouge local, famous for sharing short, comedic skits about dating and friendships.
He was arrested on Tuesday, per The Sun, and was booked in the Dallas County, Texas jail. The TikTok star is reportedly waiting for an extradition back to Baton Rouge, where he is originally from, and is facing charges stemming from the car theft.
Mr. Prada faces multiple charges
Police issued a warrant for the 20-year-old TikTok star at a Sherwood Forest traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon, per WBRZ, after the Baton Rouge Police Department alleged that he was driving the vehicle registered to Abraham, a black Lincoln MKZ. The warrant, however, still doesn't identify him as Abraham's murder suspect.
However, Mr. Prada allegedly refused to pull over and backed the car into the police unit before speeding away through a traffic light. Reports noted that he later crashed the vehicle and escaped on foot.
Before his arrest on Tuesday, Mr. Prada was reportedly wanted for multiple charges, including aggravated criminal damage to property and resisting an officer. He was also wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following William Abraham's death. While the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, which is handling the murder case, considers the TikTok star as the last known person to have been driving Abraham's car, cops are yet to name the murder suspect.
Meanwhile, Tangipahoa Sheriff Gerald Sticker said that they are "exercising all of our avenues" on finding out where Abraham was killed, which is currently their focus. They are looking at "cell phone data or license plate recognition."
Sticker also noted that authorities are aware of Abraham's previous arrest in 2015 for allegedly inappropriately touching an 11-year-old during a therapy session. However, the charges made against him were later dropped.
Before working as a therapist, William Abraham reportedly served as a Catholic priest for over a dozen years. So far, the latest update on his murder is the person of interest seen driving his car, which is now identified as Mr. Prada, who is currently in police custody.
