Former US President Donald Trump recently mistook American singer Nicky Jam for a woman before Jam’s endorsement speech in Las Vegas. The singer took the stage at Trump's campaign rally on Friday, September 13, at the World Market Center in Las Vegas.

Later, Donald Trump took to the stage to thank Jam when he made the mistake.

He said:

“Latin music superstar Nicky Jam, do you know Nicky? She's hot. Where is Nicky? Where is Nicky? Thank you, Nicky. Great to be having you here. Now you have to get, oh, look, I'm glad he came up.”

Nicky Jam is an American singer whose real name is Nick Rivera Caminero. His most well-known works are hits like X, Travesuras, El Perdón, Hasta el Amanecer, and El Amante. The final three are from his Fénix album, released in 2017.

He has regularly worked with various Latin musicians, including Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Ozuna, and Plan B. His early songs were classic examples of fast-paced music, but his recent works emphasize romantic themes and vocals.

Once Trump’s video in LA went viral on September 14, people took to X to mock the former US President.

“Trump is very confused, he’s finding men hot!”, one user said.
“He doesn’t know or give a damn about who these people are. He just wants their endorsements for votes. Hopefully someone like @NickyJamPR can see this now”, another X user wrote.
“Donald, you should meet Nicki Minaj next. He has a great voice!” hilariously wrote another one.

Other users also made jokes about the situation, connecting Trump with the LGBTQ+ community.

“Trump is now trying to reach out to the LGBTQ community? Nice”, said one X user.
“Maybe that’s his preference. Trump supports often hurdle homophobic slurs. That could be their was of coming out, because who would have that many images of men being intimate with other men? Love who you love. No need to hide its 2024”, another X user commented.

Nicky Jam is a popular artist in the reggaeton and Latin trap genres. He was a promising figure in the reggaeton genre with early albums like Haciendo Escante (2001), which included Daddy Yankee on the title track.

In 2004, Nicky Jam gained widespread recognition with the release of Vida Escante. The album gained even more popularity after being re-released in 2005 with bonus material. The Black Carpet in 2007 was also successful and led to one of his major hits, Gas Pela, with RKM.

His solo work also includes The Black Mixtape, which he self-released in 2009. After that, he moved to Medellín, Colombia, where he released the singles Voy a Beber and Travesuras in 2014. Jam's singles El Perdón and Fenix from 2015 also added to his success.

In early 2016, the singer released the track Hasta el Amanecer, which had his signature romantic and melodic hooks. Additionally, 2019's Intimo achieved triple platinum status across three nations, and Fenix received an additional Latin Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year.

Furthermore, his songs Travesuras, El Perdon ft. Enrique Iglesias and Felix have also won the iHeartRadio Music prizes, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.

In addition, Nicky Jam also starred in the 2017 movie XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Before that, he acted and executive produced the Netflix biographical series Nicky Jam: El Ganador (2018).

Although Jam did not immediately respond to the mix-up, he later shared a screenshot of a Spanish-language post about Trump's error along with 22 laughing-crying emojis.
