United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson's murder suspect, Luigi Mangione, is a cousin to Republican Baltimore County Delegate Nino Mangione. The delegate's office confirmed the same as per a report by WBAL TV.

Mangione, 26, was arrested on weapon charges from a McDonalds outlet in Pennsylvania in the early hours of December 9, 2024. The Ivy League student is a major person of interest in the murder of United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson, which occurred on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Since his arrest, details about Luigi Mangione's family have emerged, including his ties to Baltimore County delegate Nino Manguine. The suspect's cousin has been a member of the House of Delegates since January 2019. He is also a member of the Appropriations Committee and the Special Joint Committee of Pensions.

Nino Manguine is also a lifelong resident of Baltimore County and hails from an Italian family. He represents District 42A in the Maryland House of Delegates. Furthermore and is also a staunch Republican. The Baltimore County delegate attended Calvert Hall High School before graduating from Towson University with a degree in political science.

Following Luigi's arrest, Nino Mangione released a statement claiming they "only know what they have read in the media." He added that their family is "shocked and devastated" by the arrest and offered prayers for Brian Thompson's family.

Luigi Mangione hails from a family of business and had completed his education prior to his alleged involvement in Brian Thompson's murder case. Mangione's family hails from Baltimore County, Maryland, and owns the Turf Valley Resort in Howard County and the Hayfields Country Club in Baltimore County. Both properties were reportedly purchased by Nicholas B. Mangione of Mangione Enterprises.

One of the family members, Peter Mangione, reportedly serves as General Manager at Turf Valley Resort and Executive Director at Hayfields Country Club, as per Times Now. Sources allege that he is Luigi's father, although the information has not been confirmed at the time of writing. According to New York Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, the suspect was raised in Maryland and has ties in San Francisco.

Luigi Mangione finished his schooling at the prestigious Gilman School in Baltimore in 2016. He was named a valedictorian for being the student with the highest academic achievements in his school. He then went on to pursue a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also founded a video game development club.

According to the suspect's LinkedIn profile, he worked in multiple corporate roles following his graduation. According to Al Jazeera, Stanford University has confirmed that someone by the same name worked there between May and September of 2019 as the head counselor under the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies program.

He worked as a data engineer for TrueCar before his arrest. However, company officials stated that Mangione had not been associated with the organization since 2023. As per his LinkedIn profile, he worked as a programming intern for Firaxis, a video game-developing company. He was never arrested before December 2024, and his last known address was Honolulu, Hawaii.


Luigi Mangione's alleged social media posts come to light following his arrest in Pennsylvania

Since his arrest, a lot of Luigi Mangione's alleged social media activity has come to light, supposedly hinting at his beliefs and thoughts. Mangione reportedly had a Goodreads account, which bore his name and photo. The suspect appeared to have given a four-star rating to a book called Industrial Society and Its Future by Theodore Kaczynski – also known as The Unabomber Manifesto. The book's author was arrested in 1996 for being responsible for a bombing campaign that killed three people and injured others.

"It's easy to quickly and thoughtless[ly] write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic. He was a violent individual - rightfully imprisoned - who maimed innocent people. "While these actions tend to be characterized as those of a crazy luddite, however, they are more accurately seen as those of an extreme political revolutionary," he wrote in his review.

Mangione's alleged Goodreads account also featured multiple likes on controversial posts. One post he liked indicated criticism of modern-day America.

“America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves," the post said.

Luigi Mangione also had an alleged X account with his photo and name, where he regularly posted about artificial intelligence, technological advancements, and other topics concerning philosophy. Some of his latest reposts were about anxiety and depression.

He had reportedly reposted a post by author Jonathan Haidt promoting his book, The Anxious Generation. Another repost featured American neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, who was promoting a podcast on depression and anxiety. The cover image of his X profile appeared to be an X-ray image of someone's lower back with screws and pins inserted in it.


Luigi Mangione was arrested on December 9, 2024, from a McDonalds outlet in Pennsylvania. The 26-year-old is facing multiple charges, including murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery, and providing false identification to police.
