US President Joe Biden has recently pardoned his son Hunter Biden for his tax and firearms convictions. According to the President, Hunter's prosecution was "selective" and "unfair" because of his family background. This was in contradiction to Joe's pledge where he claimed to never use his presidential authority to grant Hunter leniency.
Meanwhile, Shaun Maguire, a partner in Sequoia Capital, shared a couple of tweets on X relating to the decision taken by Joe Biden. According to Shaun, Hunter allegedly owed a huge amount of money to his family and was a tenant at their property in Venice, Los Angeles.
In the first post dated December 2, Shaun tweeted:
"So what happens to the $300k+ in back pay rent that Hunter Biden owes my family from 2019-2020? Is that pardoned now?"
The next tweet read:
"Yup. True story. Hunter was our tenant in Venice, CA. Didn't pay rent for over a year. Tried to pay w/ art made from his own feces."
Shaun Maguire accused Hunter Biden of locking him out of his Venice property. In a follow-up tweet, he alleged Hunter changed the locks and used the secret service to enforce it, leaving him without access to the rental.
Shaun Maguire earned a BA in Mathematics from the University of Southern California in 2007, followed by an MS in Statistics from Stanford and an MS and PhD in Physics from Caltech. According to Sequoia Capital's website, Shaun was inspired by a cousin studying computer science and has founded five companies, three of which succeeded.
"There has been an effort to break Hunter"- said Joe Biden of his son Hunter Biden
As mentioned, Joe Biden's latest announcement of pardoning his son Hunter's convictions has gained massive spotlight lately. The President further released a statement which read:
"There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution."
Joe then claimed that "raw politics" had led to "miscarriage of justice" in his son's case. He then addressed all Americans and hoped that they'd understand why he decided to make such a decision regarding Hunter Biden.
President-elect Donald Trump also reacted to the decision. He shared a post on Truth Social, where he made references to individuals who were convicted of crimes related to the January 2022 US Capitol riots. Trump wrote:
"Does the pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?"
Notably, Joe Biden made this announcement a few weeks before Hunter Biden was about to get his sentencing for the "felonies related to making a false statement about his drug use during a gun background check and failing to pay at least $1.4m in taxes", as reported by Al-Jazeera.
