On-camera host, journalist, and executive producer Speedy Morman, born Chris Morman removed a woman from his recent TikTok livestream for using the N-word. Speedy, 30, was born in Queens, New York. He joined Syracuse University in 2012 and graduated with a broadcast and digital journalism degree in 2016.
He worked as a summer intern for Complex twice. After the second time, Speedy Morman was offered the position of weekend news host at the company. The then-aspiring journalist attended university while simultaneously hosting the news show for Complex on Saturdays and Sundays.
After graduating he began working for the company as a full-time journalist. The 30-year-old has interviewed over a hundred celebrities and public figures so far, including Will Smith, Dwayne "The Rock"Johnson, Ray J, DJ Khaled, the late NBA star Kobe Bryant, former US president Barack Obama, and many more.
Speedy also attended some of the major events such as the Grammys, Super Bowl, NBA finals, Presidential inauguration, and National Political Conventions.
Speedy currently hosts the talk show 360 With Speedy for Complex, where he is also the executive producer. He also hosted The Hype, a popular street-wear fashion competition on HBO Max. In a December 2020 interview with Complex, Speedy was asked to describe himself, where he said:
"I’m an authentic guy from Queens, NY who doesn’t let success change me. I’m a journalist and host and a person that is unapologetically themselves and always comfortable."
Speedy Morman disconnects a woman from livestream for using a racial slur
The viral snippet from Speedy Morman's latest TikTok livestream was initially shared on X by @Mia_Denyse on December 27. The X user said Speedy was giving "terrible but comical" advice to a viewer about her supposed love life. Speedy told the viewer @jazzybby:
"You’re grown, he's grown. You’re 26, you want more. He probably want more too or else he would have been left. So, just vibe."
The viewer @jazzybby responded to Speedy's advice:
"That is the crazy part — do you know when you know that your n***a can pull, like I know this n***a could pull, like, you know there's always gonna be somebody..."
However, Speedy cuts off the viewer before she can finish what she is saying and asks if she is Black. As @jazzybby stuttered through her response, saying she was half-Black, Speedy asked her again to double-check. The viewer said she had Black families, later clarifying:
"So my uncle's Black but he is not...he is not my uncle by blood. He's my uncle by marriage."
Speedy Morman immediately disconnected her from the livestream, telling the rest of the viewers, "I gotta cut her". The journalist explained:
"Jazzy, I cannot tolerate a non-Black person saying n***a on my platform. I can't. Jazzy, I got love for you though. And I, you got my advice. I told you what my advice was."
It is to be noted that @jazzybby only had her audio on. So, her face was hidden during the livestream. Only her profile picture was visible. Speedy later reposted the clip on his Instagram as well, with the caption, "im not goinnnn".
