On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Zachery Ty Bryan, the star of Home Improvement, was arrested in South Carolina for second-degree domestic violence. The actor was taken into custody after police discovered he had engaged in a physical altercation at a Myrtle Beach home.
According to TMZ's January 4 report, before being taken into custody, Bryan allegedly threatened to kill a woman and repeatedly punched her. Reportedly, the police wrote that he allegedly shares a kid with this woman.
Officers in Myrtle Beach responded to a complaint shortly before 7 p.m. on January 1. The woman told the officers that Bryan had repeatedly hit her on the left side of her face after they arrived at the scene.
Additionally, she also said that Bryan allegedly wrapped his arm around her neck and suffocated her. Neither the specific details of the incident nor the identity of his reported victim have been made public yet.
Meanwhile, Zachery Ty Bryan is presently not married. He tied the knot with Carly Matros in 2007, but they divorced in September 2020. In 2021, he became engaged to his current fiancee, Johnnie Faye Cartwright.
Zachery Ty Bryan's fiancee previously supported him amidst the allegations
Zachery Ty Bryan was born to Jenny and Dwight Bryan and has a younger sister named Ciri. He met his ex-wife Carly Matros at La Cañada High School. They later got married and welcomed their twin girls, Taylor and Gemma, who were born in 2014. Jordana, their third daughter, was born in 2016. and Pierce, their son, in 2019.

Bryan and Faye revealed that they were expecting twins at the beginning of November 2022. Parker and Sequoia, Cartwright's twin children, were born in May 2023.
However, this is not the first time the Home Improvement star has been charged. As per Blast's January 5 report, Bryan was detained in October 2020 on a number of allegations, including fourth-degree assault misdemeanors, felony strangulation, and interference with the filing of a police report.
He then entered a guilty plea to two of the charges, fourth-degree assault and menacing, while the other six were dropped in February 2021. The same outlet suggested that he further received a term of bench probation for three years.
Then, on July 28, 2023, in Eugene, Oregon, Bryan was arrested allegedly for domestic abuse. He was further accused of third-degree robbery and harassment in the fourth degree. Bryan entered a guilty plea to Felony Assault in the Fourth Degree Constituting Domestic Violence on October 25, 2023.
The Eugene Police Department, in a statement to PEOPLE in August 2023, said:
"At around 6:00 p.m. on July 28, Eugene Police received a report of a physical dispute between a male and adult female at a north Eugene residence.. The suspect, identified as Zachery Ty Bryan... had left the location."
The statement further mentioned that Bryan was later contacted by Eugene Police. He was then charged with Fourth Degree Assault under the Abuse Prevention Act and was sent to the Lane County Jail.
Meanwhile, amidst all these, Cartwright has demonstrated her support for him. After Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested, the 31-year-old model declared that she would "always want what's best for the father of my children." She also told US Weekly in August 2023:
“Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways. I’ve learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there."
She then continued:
“I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin.”
On the other hand, after the recent arrest, Zachery Ty Bryan’s representatives haven’t said anything about the incident as of yet.
