Sebastian Stan, who plays Donald Trump in his new movie, The Apprentice, spoke to Variety Magazine and revealed how he gained 15 pounds in 2 months to resemble the former President of the country. In the interview, he spoke about learning how to talk like Donald Trump and observing him very closely.

However, as soon as his statement about gaining enormous weight went viral, social media users began commenting on the same, and poured in hilarious responses. One user commented under an X user, @BuzzingPop’s post about the same, and said:

“Why would anyone want to play donald Trump?”

Others also stated their thoughts.

“He called donald trump fat omg,” stated one user.
“That’s dedication! Gaining 15 pounds in 2 months is a significant commitment to a role. Looking forward to seeing how Sebastian Stan brings Donald Trump to life on screen,” wrote another.
“Is that supposed to be a lot?” asked an X user.
“I can gain 15 pounds in 5 minutes,” exclaimed another.

The Apperentice, releasing on October 11, 2024, has already premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2024. Written by Gabriel Sherman, the movie is directed by Ali Abbasi, and stars Jeremy Strong, Maria Bakalova and Martin Donovan. The movie, a biographic drama tells the tale of Trump’s businesses during the early years, and how he grew to success.

“I had 130 videos on his physicality on my phone”- Sebastian Stan reveals watching Donald Trump’s videos on loop to play his character in “The Apperentice”

Sebastian Stan revealed in the interview with Variety about how he used to gather Donald Trump’s video to study his character. He revealed that he had photos and videos of the former President in an album, named “DT.” Sebastian Stan said:

“I had 130 videos on his physicality on my phone. And 562 videos that I had pulled with pictures from different time periods — from the ’70s all the way to today — so I could pull out his speech patterns and try to improvise like him.”

He then also talked about how he realised that he needed to “start speaking” differently, so that he can mimic Trump better. Sebastian said:

“I started to realize that I needed to start speaking with my lips in a different way. A lot of that came from the consonants. If I’m talking, I’m moving forward. The consonants naturally forced your lips forward.”

During the interview, he also revealed that the director of the movie, Ali Abbasi often asked Sebastian Stan to ad-lib an entire scene, on the basis of the research being given to him. He then claimed how mimicking the business man, also the current candidate for the 2024 Presidential elections, became easier for Stan.

However, he is skeptical about the fact that he cannot get the “voice right.” Stan said in the interview:

“I don't know if I got the voice right. I mean here's the thing, we are dealing with someone we're seeing 24/7. Everyone's got an opinion about this person. I watched everything I could find, anyone that's ever done an impression of him, I've seen it. It definitely helped that I was playing him when he was much younger and if you go back and you look at those times, he sounded different."

Donald Trump also featured in The Apprentice, the reality TV show, for 15 seasons, from 2004 to 2015. In the show, Trump, and a few other judges analysed the business skills of the contestants, so that they could be hired at a company. During its seasons, Trump offered many contracts to the winners to join his companies.
