Speaker, conservative US influencer, and YouTube show host Candace Owens was recently denied a visa to New Zealand as an entertainment worker. New Zealand immigration agency then told the Associated Press on Thursday, November 28, that they took the step because it is illegal to grant visas to individuals who have been banned from another country.

According to the Forbes report from the same day, she was refused admission into Australia last month after officials claimed that she "has the capacity to incite discord in almost every direction.”

On November 27, the New Zealand Herald further disclosed that her visa to Australia had been abruptly revoked just before her scheduled arrival. Citing a reason behind the decision, Tony Burke, Australia's Immigration Minister, said:

“From downplaying the impact of the Holocaust with comments about [German SS officer Josef] Mengele through to claims that Muslims started slavery, Candace Owens has the capacity to incite discord in almost every direction.”

Additionally, as per the same AP report, Owens has further sparked controversy with her comments criticizing Black Lives Matter, feminism, immigration, and vaccines. Her critics allegedly accuse her of spreading conspiracy theories and antisemitism.

Candace Owens, a far-right influencer, has been prohibited from entering several countries she intended to visit while on a live tour. In February and March 2025, Owens was supposed to speak at several events in Auckland, New Zealand, and many Australian towns. However, she had been banned from both countries.

The decision was announced weeks after her visa application was denied by Australia, reportedly due to statements she made denying Nazi medical experiments on Jews in the concentration camps during World War II. Furthermore, when Owens launched the tour in August 2024, she addressed the audiences in Australia and New Zealand and claimed that she would discuss her Christian faith and free expression.

HuffPost further reported that Tony Burke highlighted some of Owens' remarks as justification for the country's ban. In October, officials banned her from Australia after Burke referred to her comments regarding Muslims and the Holocaust and told the reporters that:

“Australia’s national interest is best served when Candace Owens is somewhere else.”

On the other hand, according to immigration department spokesperson Jock Gilray, Candace Owens was denied an entertainer's work permit for New Zealand on the grounds that visas are legally not available to anyone who has been barred from entering another nation.

Meanwhile, as per the same Forbes report, following the Australian ban, Owens blamed the "Zionist media empire" and claimed that "people don't want me to get in front of an audience.”

Nevertheless, Owens announced back in August that she would be traveling to Australia and New Zealand in November for a speaking tour. However, her website, Candacelive, now only shows events in February and March 2025 and doesn’t mention her visa issues.

It also does not recognize that she has been denied admission to both nations. Moreover, tickets are still available for purchase. Furthermore, per the Forbes report, the event is promoted as one that "will appeal to audiences seeking alternative viewpoints and in-depth discussions on pressing political and social topics."

The tour is also described as an "opportunity to experience firsthand the intellect and fearlessness that has captivated millions around the globe" on her website. Furthermore, this isn’t the first time Owen has faced issues due to her opinion. She had a disagreement with the Daily Wire's creators over her comments toward Jews and her opposition to U.S. military assistance for Israel. After this, she announced in March 2024 that she had left the site.

Announcing the same on March 22, 2024, Jeremy Boreing, the co-founder of the site, wrote on X,

“Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship.”

Owens has not reacted publicly after being denied a visa to enter New Zealand.
