Chris Cuomo, a NewsNation journalist, made headlines for interviewing Suge Knight about Sean "Diddy" Combs on September 24, 2024. In the prison phone call interview, Knight stated that Diddy was also a victim of abuse, suggesting that the main culprits behind the misconduct were more powerful executives.

Knight, who is also the former CEO of Death Row Records, is serving 28 years behind bars for running over and killing a man. He said that his artists would initially only smoke weed. However, they got hooked on hard drugs when they signed to different music labels. 59-year-old Suge Knight told Chris Cuomo in the interview:

"Those guys… they introduced cocaine to my artists."

He continued:

"So once they got on cocaine, once they got on drugs, once they got on alcohol, then that’s when the weird stuff happened. I think that’s what took Puffy [Combs] down that lane."

Also for the unversed, Chris Cuomo was fired from CNN in 2021, after he got involved in a s*xual harassment scandal surrounding his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. While Cuomo currently works at NewsNation, he had previously worked as a chief law & justice correspondent at ABC News.

His brother, Andrew Cuomo, was the 56th Governor of New York, from the year 2011 till 2015. Chris and Andrew's mother Maria Cuomo had also served as a governor of New York in the period from 1983 to 1994.

Everything to know about American TV journalist Chris Cuomo's life and career

Born in August 1970, in New York City, Chris Cuomo began his journalism career by making appearances on CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC, related to several political and social issues. The 54-year-old journalist further worked as a correspondent and political policy analyst at FOX News.

From September 2006 to December 2009, Chris Cuomo worked as an anchor for Good Morning America. Over time, Chris had covered some important issues including the war on terrorism, Virginia tech shopping, and the Sago Mine collapse. He further did live broadcasts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

In 2013, he began working at CNN as a co-host for their morning show. He debuted as a field anchor for CNN after making an appearance on an episode of Piers Morgan Tonight in February 2013.

In March 2021, while s*xual harassment allegations had already stemmed up against Andrew Cuomo, Chris revealed that he couldn't comment on them on the program due to a conflict of interest. Later, he was, however, accused of being engaged in strategic conversation with Andrew about how to answer questions about the allegations.

CNN then described Chris' engagement in conversation with Andrew Cuomo to be "inappropriate." Later on, he was fired from CNN.

In March 2022, Chris Cuomo filed a lawsuit in which he claimed that his career damages had exceeded $125 million. He further accused CNN of previously allowing its employees and his colleagues to violate standards and ethics just to maintain viewership. He further claimed that his getting fired in 2021, cost him about $15 million in salary.

In July 2022, Chris appeared on an episode of Real Time With Bill Maher and weighed in on his termination by CNN. He said:

I feel like I lost a sense of purpose for a while because of how things ended…It’s true, when you struggle you learn who your friends are."

In February 2023, Chris revealed on an episode of the Open Book With Anthony Scaramucci podcast, that he went through a difficult phase after getting terminated.

"I had to accept [my firing] because I was going to kill everybody including myself... There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is un-relatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on," he said.

When Chris began working at NewsNation, his ratings didn't go as high as they used to, while he was at CNN. In the February podcast episode, he explained that he knew that he was never going to gain that position again since it was "wrongly" taken away from him. He said:

"I’ll litigate that. I’m not going to bitch about it in the press… I’m trying to remember what I’ve been through every day, and not forgetting and falling back into what works and what will rate more."

Suge Knight told Chris Cuomo that Diddy's "manhood was compromised"

As mentioned before, Suge Knight sat for an interview with Chris, in which he weighed in on the ongoing Diddy drama. The convicted felony accused Clive Davis, Russell Simmons, and Andre Harrell of "compromising Diddy's manhood" using drugs and alcohol.

A spokesperson for Clive Davis had further denied the claims made by Knight. On Wednesday, they exclusively told Page Six that the claims against Davis by Knight were "fabricated." The rep. further described Davis as a mentor to the artists.

As of now, no charges have been filed against any individual referred to by Knight.
