"Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1 and 2. According to the BBC's report dated April 14, Katy Perry was sponsored on an 11-minute-long trip to space by Amazon's CEO, Jeff Bezos. "Still processing this incredible journey. Thank you @blueorigin and to my space sisters, taking up space AND making room in space for all - 143. See you on tour (when I come down, figuratively)," she wrote.

Several celebrities, including Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn, Jessica Chastain, Kesha, Lily Allen, and Amy Schumer, came forward and criticized the space mission. According to Daily Mail's April 15 report, Ratajkowski uploaded a TikTok video on April 15, pointing out the resources used for this mission.

"Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there? And then to try to make it like... I'm disgusted, literally I'm disgusted," the model said.

Dr Tanya Harrison, from the Outer Space Institute experts' network, who had previously worked on NASA's Mars mission, told the BBC that while she appreciated that the space mission created an impression on people, she felt "cynical."

Calling it a "marketing stunt," Harrison stated that the main reason behind the mission may have been promoting space tourism.

"People were like, 'Oh, this is so cool. Katy Perry is going to space.' The cynical part of me wants to call it a marketing stunt. This is a company promoting the fact they can launch tourists into space," she said.
