On December 12, Time Magazine named Donald Trump the Person of the Year 2024. Since the internet has been flooded with people hen, thaving divided opinions on the decisions made by the outlet. This was the second time the President-elect got this title for himself, the first time being in 2016.
Like many netizens, journalist Don Lemon shared his take on Time's choice of Donald Trump for this position. A clip from Lemon's recent TikTok live session has been going viral across social media. Lemon seemed quite furious with the choice taken by the outlet.
"If they wanted to make someone Person of the Year, I don’t know, they could’ve done it with any person. They could have done it to someone who actually stood for democracy, who stands for democracy in the country," said the journalist.
Lemon further criticized Time Magazine and stated that just by winning a presidential election, one couldn't become eligible to become the Person of the Year. Netizens further reacted to the viral video of Don Lemon. A user asked on X:

Don Lemon condemned Time Magazine for choosing Donald Trump as the Person of the Year 2024
In an article published by FOX News on December 12, Time Magazine spoke about their choice of the President-elect as the Person of the Year this year. They said:
"For marshaling a comeback of historic proportions, for driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment, for reshaping the American presidency and altering America's role in the world, Donald Trump is Time's 2024 Person of the Year."
However, Don Lemon did not seem too satisfied and lashed out at the outlet for the decision. During the TikTok live session, Lemon addressed the outlet and asked how they would address the women who are readers of the magazine after making the choice. Lemon said:
"You have someone on the cover of your magazine who is an adjudicated assaulter. You have someone who inspired an insurrection. We have someone who, without a doubt, the evidence is there, tried to overturn a free and fair election."
The journalist went on to highlight the legal battles which involved the incoming president. Lemon even questioned if it was all a joke and further described Trump as a "convicted felony."
According to FOX, apart from Trump, Time had considered some other names for the position. This list included Kamala Harris, the Princess of Wales, and Elon Musk.
